Protection for the coaches and players.  They can sneak back to campus in the cover of darkness.

It's bad when to find protection you play at your rival school's arena!

I believe that UK plays one game there every year.  In the past, every other year it had been the annual game versus Indiana, with the Indiana "neutral" site in alternating years being at the RCA Dome.  At these games, the teams equally split the tickets, literally down the middle of the arena.  However, that series went to on-campus games last year at Lexington [could not find an appropriate available date at Freedom Hall] and this year at Indiana.  The talk is now to keep that series on campus and away from the "neutral" sites.

Edit:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Robert Vaden scored a career-high 33 points including the go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:15 to play as UAB rallied past Kentucky 79-76 on Saturday.

Walter Sharpe added 16 points and Reggie Huffman had 10 points and 12 rebounds as the Blazers (8-4) ruined Kentucky's annual visit to Freedom Hall, home of archrival Louisville.

Can you imagine Madison having a home game at the Bradley Center or Marquette having a home game at the Kohl Center?

(Not counting the NCAA tournament.)

i dunno, this to me seems to be kinda standard these days for higher profile non-conference matchups.  teams agree to play "on the road" as long as the game is not actually the home arena for the home team.  examples include arizona playing illinois at the united center in chicago and oregon playing nebraska at the qwest center (actual home of creighton) in omaha.  there are tons more games like this, these two just came to me right away.

If memory serves correctly, Wisconsin played Maryland (I think?) at the Bradley Center as part of the Big 10/ACC Challenge, a couple of years ago.

We were rumored to be working on a game against Illinois that would have been held at Miller Park several years ago. Not sure if that was ever really close to happening or not, but would have been cool.

If not Miller Park (and not counting that farce a few years ago when we played "at" USM in Green Bay), where would our "neutral home court" be for such a game? The United Center?
