Four-star junior looking to reclassify?

The number of uncommitted prospects in 2016 are dwindling every week, but there could be a new name entering the group in a couple of months.

Markus Howard, ranked No. 33 in the ESPN 60 for 2017, is exploring the possibility of reclassifying to 2016 and graduating high school this spring.

"Right now it's up in the air," Howard said. "I'm taking a class right now, so when I finish with that class, I'll be able to graduate early. My family and I, we're still discussing it, we're just trying to see what's the best fit for me. It's definitely a possibility, but I'm still not sure what my choice is."

Howard transferred to Findlay Prep (Nevada) before this season, after spending his previous high school years at Perry (Arizona).

"If I was to reclassify to '16, I would be learning at a much younger age," he said. "So I would absorb a lot at a young age. A pro for being in the '16 class would be being younger, learning at a younger age. Staying in '17 would really enhance my game, just the next one or two years in high school. Both have pros, both are good options for me."

Five schools are in the mix for Howard, and he said all five are willing to take him in either 2016 or 2017. He's visited Arizona State already, and has visits planned to Indiana, Marquette, Baylor and . . . Central Arkansas?

Yep, Howard said he's seriously considering heading to the Southland Conference. His brother, Jordan, plays there and won Freshman of the Year in the league last season. The two played together for one season in high school.

"That could be a place where I end up," Howard said. "I really like coach Russ Pennell, he's a close family friend of mine. That's definitely not a bluff. People are asking why I even consider it, but they're on the up and coming. They're a school I'm keeping an eye on."

Howard did say that Arizona State, Baylor and Marquette are working the hardest for him.

A decision regarding the reclassification will likely come in the early part of the spring.

"It's 50/50," Howard said.

Odd. I got to read it, and am not a suscriber.

Edit: and now I can't read it either  :)

The other part on Bruno talked about how he is trying to get his grades in order to stay in 2016 class. Listed Marquette again
