Great news!! Was getting worried if this project would ever be shovel ready.
From the Marquette press release it says, "The Athletic Performance Research Center will span 12 acres, bordered by 6th Street, 10th Street, West Michigan Street and the Interchange."
Does this mean the Ramada site will be part of this project's footprint? I thought the Ramada had a long term lease. I noticed the Butch's Steakhouse building has been razed, is the Ramada next?
Marquette owns that Ramada. Raze it, they will.

I'd imagine the hotel manager probably didn't know the full story yet.

Wasn't there some thought that the Ramada will be student housing while McCormick is razed and rebuilt? (or whatever happens)

Ramada just a short term solution. Would not be in the long term rendition.
The Ramada Milwaukee Downtown will eventually be demolished to make way for Marquette University's future $120 million Athletic Performance Research Center, but remains open for business.
The 155-room hotel, 633 W. Michigan St., is one of the few businesses still operating at the 12-acre development site, which is bordered mainly by N. 6th, 10th, W. Michigan and W. Clybourn streets.
A Marquette affiliate bought the hotel property in July as part of its site assembly for the project, which on Wednesday announced a $40 million investment from Aurora Health Care Inc. Other properties purchased by Marquette include the former Herzing University building, the former Butch's Old Casino Steak House and the former UMB Fund Services Inc. offices.
Ramada operator Moussa Nicolas said Thursday the hotel remains open. He said his business still has a lease for the building, but didn't know when it would close.
Marquette doesn't yet know when it will demolish the hotel and the other buildings, and begin construction of the 250,000- to 300,000-square-foot research facility, said Brian Dorrington, senior director of university communication.

Which is strange, considering Ramada Inn regularly competes with the Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons for best luxury hotel chain in the United States.
