Title: Alan Rickman
Post by: ChitownSpaceForRent on January 14, 2016, 04:38:29 PM
They say death always comes in 3s. Alan Rickman died today from cancer as well at age 69. A great artist in his own right.

Really odd how two English celebrities both died at age 69 from cancer within a week of eachother. RIP.

I hope I live long enough to die from cancer.

I really hope that (after)life will imitate art leading Alan Rickman to become the voice of God now.

I think John Facenda still has that job.

RIP, Dr. Lazarus.

Hard to imagine anybody else getting the job.

Hans Gruber, RIP. Still a classic film scene, looking at his face as he falls from the Nakatami Bldg.

I have (never missed a chance to see Salma Hayek) and got the reference.   Still, when I hear "voice of God" I think John Facenda.

Salma Hayek as a stripper.     Just a sign of my lack of passion for football.

My kids said they spent the day speaking with friends that they can't believe Professor Snape passed away.

Would love to know how they filmed that.  His reaction is too good not to have had the feeling of falling.

I know you were just being flippant but as a survivor I'd ask you to respect those who haven't been so lucky.  Thanks in advance.

He landed on one of those big bluescreen stuntman "pillows".

They dropped him 25 feet into an airbag.  John McTiernan told Rickman they would count down "three-two-one-go" and release him on "go."

They dropped him on "one."

Do you know the story of that?  The director was going to drop him on the count of 3 and 3...about a 20 foot drop if I recall.  Instead, he dropped him at 1 to get the surprise reaction.

EDIT:  I see someone beat me to it.

I wasnt responding to glow.  I was reaponding to the guy that wants to be old enough to die from cancer.  Cancer is a miserable thing that doesnt discriminate  by age.  That to me, seems like the dumb comment.  But whatever you say i guess.  Nm.

It's not flippant, it's an inevitability. As we grow older, there is a higher and higher chance that we'll experience cell mutations during replication.

I genuinely hope that I survive all of the other things that could kill me up until the point that my body makes a mistake that I can't come back from.

Why is it that making fun of hepatitis, diabetes, obesity, ADD, alcoholism, and having a stroke is OK, but anything about cancer is taboo?

Not that I'm looking to make fun of people with cancer, but I'm curious as to what it is about cancer that makes having an open conversation of race - by comparison - seem like a fireside chat?

Rickman is in a new movie.  Saw the previews today at the theater, comes out in March.  Looks pretty good.
