Title: Nick Noskowiak
Post by: MU Buff on January 08, 2016, 02:25:53 PM
From Brad Winton on twitter:

Iowa State transfer, Nick Noskowiak (6'2/G), has transferred to Gulf Coast State (FL). Will sit this semester, play next season.

To be clear, that's not Florida Gulf Coast. It's a JUCO in Panama City, FL.

I hope Nick can handle springtime in Panama City.

Sure seems like we dodged a real bullet with him. Rough road for the young fella.

Not sure I'd even call him an Iowa State transfer.  He "decided" to leave the team in August...not to transfer, but to step away from basketball for a while.

No nothing about his situation, but sounds like he desperately needs a stabilizing force. Hope he finds it down in Panama City (would not have been my first choice for him).

Wishing the best for him.

Going to Panama city Florida is not a step in the right direction for Nick.  Way too much party temptation. Nonetheless, I wish him the best.

No matter what happens we have a lot to be thankful for from Nick. He worked very hard to help recruit Haanif and Henry. Too bad he wasn't able to join them, the kid had real talent.

+1 I remember when Henry was asked who he wanted to play with in college and he responded Nick Noskowiak

Wonder if Nick had gotten here would he have found a challenge from the other players that pushed him to better himself and some stability from the coaches?

I hope he does well. I wish things had worked out for him with us because he would have been a keeper.

Probably should've transferred to a residential treatment facility from Sun Prairie High School when he had "family issues" to deal with.

Maybe.  But that's not Marquette's job.

really?  whatever nn's issues may be-i don't want to speculate without knowing for sure-we've had a number of players in the past who've had and/or developed issues while at MU.  you're right, it's not in the job description, but part of the whole basketball experience with most programs is to support their players. whether it was academic or personal, i would hope MU was a notch above the rest.  i know rick m. helped one out and he(the player) is a better person today for it.  you're right though, it's not MU's job though :-[ i guess

It is not Marquette's job to accept players who haven't come to grips with what ails them.  And when Nick was let go, he had not yet hit rock bottom given his actions at ISU.

If Nick turns his life around and plays well down in Florida, I would have no trouble bringing him here if Wojo wants him.  Everyone deserves another chance.

The FL gulf coast doesn't seem like it would be the pale to go for a kid with problems. Hope it works out OK for the kid.

Have you ever been in Panama City in a month not named March or April?  There's no more partying there than there is in Green Bay when the Packers aren't playing.

A good argument could be made that Nick was only let go when Wojo tried to help him and he chose to refuse that help.

good point!  also, i don't know how long he was officially with iowa st. but the coup de grace was an incident that happened in may before he even joined the team.  when they found out, they told him things probably aren't going to work out.  so they obviously didn't even give him a chance to get help.  he might have lied to them and said everything is cool and in his past while forgetting about one minor detail

That incident was in August after he had already been on the ISU campus during the summer.

ok, i may have gotten it mixd up with this one-from the wisconsin state journal

According to online court documents, Noskowiak was also arrested May 15 in Waukesha County for "refusing to take a test for intoxication after arrest." Five days later, he was charged with a first-offense OWI — the fourth Cyclones player to face such a charge — and unsafe lane deviation.
