D-Wade Might Be Doing It Wrong
Or, Just imagine the euphoria #3 would've felt if we beat Kansas.
Clippers in December...Dwyane might need a refresher course.
Anyhow, I haven't hit up Cracked Sidewalks in awhile, but I had a few minor thoughts, none of which involve booze or my personal life...
***How great is Henry Sugar? I'm thrilled to be on the same Contributors list as Marquette's version of Bill James. Sabermetics rock, even if I don't understand half of what he's saying. Keeps the stat geeks off my back.
***If anyone was thinking about taking an East Coast road trip as a palate-cleanser to the Big East tourney, I would suggest taking in Seton Hall on 2/12 instead of St. John's on 2/20. MSG is a mecca, but it's also a dump. The Prudential Center (aka. "The Rock") is a brand-spanking new arena in Newark and by all accounts, it's really freaking nice. It's a short train ride from Manhattan so beers can be had before, and after, in this glorious mess we call Gotham.
***I love the pressure we've been putting on, but am I the only one who thinks maybe we could take it farther, more to the old Arkansas "40 Minutes of Hell." I think it would be a nightmare with DJ, the Venezuelan Villain and Acker the Attacker on-the-ball with Wes and Jerel bringing the double team. I think an all-out press at the right times could be a killer.
***Not enough has been made of our ugly non-con schedule. We need a few cupcakes, yes, but one or two decent games in the next three dead weeks would at least make it more interesting, no?
***Rose Bowl final: USC 45, Illinois 6 (we all gotta' go to grad school somewhere.)
***I just filed a Fast Company story that has an MU reference, so far the editors are keeping it in, so I poured a Jameson, put on the Elvis Christmas album...sorry, can't help myself.
Happy holidays everyone.
My sincere prediction is the round of 8, minimum.

can you say diarrhea of the mouth? i had trouble following nearly 1/2 of that blog from cracked sidewalks
Brother, I like the cut of your jib.
Nevertheless, I have to agree that not enough has been made of the weak non-conference schedule. If we have to try to raise up the strength of UIPUI and Utah State to make things look ok, it's pretty bad. The selection committee won't take note of a win over them unless they manage 20 wins, and maybe not even then. I know there was word that Crean was trying to schedule a Pac 10 opponent in the offseason, but was unwilling to play the road game this year. Still, he couldn't find a major conference opponent (good team or not), or at least a strong mid-major to schedule?
Still, if you look at most other BE Teams, their schedules aren't any better, and some of them are losing games they need to be winning. While our schedule isn't any weaker than theirs, it doesn't set us apart either.
I really like the schedule DePaul has:
Creighton, Northwestern, Kansas, Vandy, Mississippi, Clemson
While I don't know if we're up to playing at Kansas, I think DePaul's schedule proves that it's possible to find a team that most of us have at least heard of to play this time of year. I know the cupcake games for the last 3 weeks of December were blamed for a loss of focus that contributed to the 0-2 BE start last year. Let's hope it doesn't happen again.
We have 4 games between now and BE play starts... all disgustingly fatty caloric cupcakes. We need to slip in a 90-115 RPI style team into that mix. Ideally, a big name school with a middle-of-the-road BBall program (i.e. Nebraska)
Hopefully none of you that are now complaining about the OOC schedule were the same one's saying MU should play UWM. That made scheduling another BCS type team significantly more difficult. Also, surprised by the complaining. Right now we have the 19th most difficult SOS out of 330 teams...we must be doing something right. We have played OSU, Duke, and Wisconsin. Yes we have a few cupcakes in line but our OOC SOS will still be significantly better than most other teams come conference time as will our RPI. Weak argument. I swear the people that bitch about the schedule wouls still find a way to complian even if we had the top 10 teams as our OOC schedule.
Does anyone understand the title of Dwyane Wade might be doing it wrong? What is he doing wrong? I didn't catch what he was doing wrong.

Wild guess Harrison -- you don't buy season tickets. Am I right?

He's making fun of Wade saying in the referenced article that beating the Clippers was as enjoyable as having sex for the first time: hence the title he might be "doing it wrong" as in doing sex wrong.
I agree that the entire posting was rather disjointed.
Oooooooo thanks! I forgot that the embedded links don't show up. That probably would have helped me!
I do not think we should ever play anybody that we do not expect to rank in the top 200. Forget the teams that consisting fall between 200 and 317+.
