Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Shootout
I noticed that he dropped from four stars to three on scout.com - really makes you wonder about these rating services.

All that scoring, rebounding and winning he's been doing lately has really set him back in the experts' eyes.
Whoa, averaging how many points?!?! Not trying to take away from what he's accomplished so far but, is the competition that bad or is he that good? Either way +32 ppg is still sick.

It think it's just a matter of other kids catching their eye of recent note.
Nick was rated highly early, then other prospects blossomed pushing his rating down.
It's almost who's the "flavor of the month"...

The competition has been pretty good, not great, but it's still early in the year. That said, he didn't even play against the worst team that LeFlore faced. They won 120-22, outscored the other team 70-2 in the second half, and he didn't play against them so the numbers could be even bigger.

He's been a 3 star player on Scout for the last year, he hasn't been a 4 star probably since he committed to MU. Right after that he didn't play that well and Scout and Hoopmasters dropped him out of their top 100s. Scout hasn't moved him up since then.
It probably won't change much either, since they pay more attention to AAU results than HS results.
He's coming into Milwaukee for the WBY Shootout @ the Al right? Anyone gonna make a trip to see that at all?

Thanks for the info. I really do not know that much about what aau is (summer league with better level of competition??). Is it valid for them to emphasize this over the high school results?

Agreed,
It'll be great to have him come in and work under JM and WM for a year and hopefully become a pure scoring 2.

I think the AAU competition is often better, but I don't know that it is always better. For a guy who plays at a small school, in a small conference, AAU competition is often a huge step up, so how he does there is probably a better judge of how good he is.
But for a guy like Nick Williams who's high school plays in the top division in a tough state, and is on a team that plays a national schedule I don't think AAU is necessarily better. This year, Leflore is playing in two out of state tournaments, the Ioloni Classic and the WBBY Shootout. So they will end up playing some of the best teams from, California, Maryland, Minnesota, Hawaii and Wisconsin. That in itself is a test equal to AAU ball IMO.
Also, fwiw you can follow his stats here, MaxPreps is pretty good about updating them.

Absolutely...I think that playing for an AAU team is more selective than your normal HS team (with the exception of schools like Oak Hill Academy - then again, I guess one would not consider them 'normal'). Therefore I think the competition is way better since teams have a choice of who they play, what tournaments they're in, what leagues, etc. It's kinda sad because I personally value playing for your school a lot more than playing on an AAU team.
well, he is what he is - 3 or 4 star etc. but he looks pretty good either way and looks like he's getting better :)
I read somewhere that until this year he was playing forward for his high school team. Now, for the first year, he is playing guard.
Perhaps it is a more natural position for him from a scoring perspective. That seems to indicate he will surely fit into the Crean system.

.
For the most part he was playing as an undersized power forward until this year because LeFlore had a bunch of smaller guards. So his inside game and mid range game is more developed than his perimeter shot. This year LeFlore lost all their starters except Nick, and lost much of last years team overall so his role has changed. He is now the go to guy, and he is now a guard because they got a true post player that transferred in.
