Went the the UC/Iowa St. tilt last night. Great game. Deonte Burton off the bench immediately picked up two fouls but did hit some big shots down stretch ending up with 12 with sketchy defense. McKay started but 0-4 from the floor. Did hit some FTs near the end as well.
In sum Burton looked about the same as when he was with MU. Solid off the bench but still lacking some fundamentals on the defensive end. McKay not sure what kind of player he is but I've only seen 1 game. Definitely better on D.
eonte Burton?

McKay is averaging 14 and 10 on 62% shooting with 1.4 blocks/gm. He'd look VERY nice next to Henry and Luke in a big front line.

He would, had he redshirted. He'd have graduated last year if not.

Yep, you're right. I checked his stats on ESPN and they had him listed as a junior. Shouldn't believe everything I read ;)
Deonte looked VERY good. Zero turnovers, an unreal one handed 30 foot bounce pass for an assist and 5/6 shooting from the field (including a three). He's too short to be a good post defender but I thought his overall D was improved.

Happy for him........Happy for us
He's coming off the bench? Looks like Wojo called Prohm and taught him all his mind game tactics

Buzz offered to redshirt him, so it could of happened.

Without any game action for over a year he's the 6th man on a top 10 team. Last year he was a reserve on a really bad team. Slight difference.
Another note somewhat related to this game. Be thankful for the reformed Big East. The American is NINTH in Conference RPI. That's worse than the A-10....and the Colonial...

Oh definitely a lot different. But there were those that insisted that playing time was deontes only priorty.

Everyone want to play, but if that were his only criterion he wouldn't have transferred to a better team where minutes would be harder to come by.

I agree. That's why I was making fun of those who insisted it was the only reason.

To be fair, he is likely the 7th man. He is filling in for Naz Long who is out for the season with an injury. No reason to believe he would be in front of Naz.
Also, part of the reason he was a reserve last year was his tendency to rack up fouls very very fast. In two games at Iowa State that has also been a problem. If he would start he would foul out every game.
Generally agree with your point though.

Well...not exactly. Buzz mentioned in a coaching clinic that McKay was a good redshirt candidate. That was in front of Jameel and it was the first time he'd heard any mention of a redshirt, which didn't sit well with him. I'm confident there were other issues, some of which had to do with the voices in his ear, but who knows how it might have gone had Buzz suggested it to Jameel privately before suggesting it in front of a bunch of coaches publicly.

Those people have also predicted a JJJ transfer 10 times in a 2.5 year span
