This is a really bad loss. NJIT had never beaten a Big East team until today.
St John's needs to be better if the conference is to make a mark.
Not sure why but I watched both St. John's games this weekend. They're bad. It's like watching kids on the playground do whatever they want.
Yes, SJU is really hard to watch.

Both Johnies games and the DePaul game? This gap in games around finals week really impacts people differently. You going to be OK for the next 26 hours?

We almost lost to them last year, so it feels weird chiding them too much for losing. It's not like they were expected to be decent either.
NJIT isn't as bad of a loss as people might think. They should win the Atlantic Sun and make the tourney. Good chance to finish on the right side of 150 RPI.
You never want a conference mate to loss to an Atlantic Sun team but not surprised by this one. Providence only beat the highlanders by seven

It's not that they lost but how terrible they played. That was an awful game by St John's.
The Big East needs a competitive St John's for long term success. Today's showing was really awful.

I agree, but given that they lost their coach and 96% of their minutes posted from last year I'm not worried about them yet. They need two years to rebuild

I thought it was 5 years?
5 to judge, 3 to get out of the basement
How the eff did the Johnnies beat Cuse? I know Cuse was overrated early this season, but really ... how?

Not the whole thing but bits and pieces. Enough to know they both suck.

How terrible they played shouldn't be a surprise either. This is the same team that lost to Fordham by 16, to Incarnate Word by 22, and to Division II St. Thomas Aquinas by 32 in preseason.
I disagree that the Big East "needs" a competitive St. John's for long term success. Would it help? Sure. But by similar reasoning the Big East "needs" a competitive DePaul for long term success.

I agree that the Big East will live or die by the overall quality of the conference but having winners in NYC and Chicago enhances the brand. There is a reason the professional leagues and the broadcast networks love to see the New York teams win.

Cuse is a disaster of a program right now. Overhyped kids freewheeling with a coach in total limbo and a designated replacement that not many feel comfortable with inside nor outside the program.
Also, goes to show how stupid it is for people to judge a team on a few days' worth of performance. Remember, even the worst baseball team in the world can sweep a weekend series.
