Well, after Marquette officials read Benny's post about how horrible the BC is as a home court, they called all our future opponents and asked if we could move the games to their place instead.

So blame Benny.

Would it still be considered a home game if Chicago State held its home games in Rosemont.

Thanks, MUAvenue.

Nice sightlines. No sign of zamboni tunnels.

Chicago State last year averaged 411 per game.  THey maxed out at 754 for DePaul (apparently their fans don't travel well).  I can only image the raucous atmosphere for the 257 that showed up for Seattle

To support this whopping crowd, CSU built a 7,500 seat arena.

The nice part, however, is that every Chicago State fan has on average nearly 20 seats to himself.  Fan friendly, indeed.

So DePaul could use their arena and doesn't need to build a new one?

It's conveniently close to Gary, IN. I consider that a plus.

Clearly it was so they could host the Great West conference tournament in back to back years.

Gotta make sure you have space for the fanbases of Utah Valley St and Houston Baptist with how well they travel.

What the hell are you talking about? From the article:

QuoteThe money was allocated from the State of Illinois treasury by then Senate President Emil Jones.

It certainly wasn't free for any taxpayer in the state of Illinois.  And then the University had the audacity to name to the stadium after him.  What are the chances that there was quid pro quo involved?

The big use for that stadium is the city playoff finals for high school basketball and supersectionals. That place gets rowdy for the CPS finals.

The supersectional crowd is pretty funny too. The game is usually between a city school and whatever Northshore school was good that year, I'm sure you can imagine the joy of New Trier parents going down there.

Anything that makes New Trier parents uncomfortable is something I will wholeheartedly support.

Bo Ellis coached at that school. I remember reading in an alumni mag that they were so poorly funded he had to take the locker room towels home to wash them.

I always wish that Bo had made a go of that opportunity. He was key to our winning in '77.

Free to the school I meant, i.e. didn't have to raise money from donors.  Unfortunately the taxpayers of my proud state weren't so lucky.  But what's new.

Sorry, got a little trigger happy with the post.
I saw he also got an honorary doctorate out of it...

100%

I have been involved with a couple of these in a different state.  Kinda sad IMO.

Does the drive down make their chauffeurs uncomfortable?

You're probably one of those who things that the new Cook County Hospital got named Stroger just because he was the Cook County Board President when it got approved.  When in actuality it was, it was.... uh

Stroger?  I thought it was St. Roger!  Dang.....

Fun fact:  When Mr. Stroger had his stroke, Stroger hospital was the closest emergency room, he was adamant that he be taken to once that was much farther away.
