Looking at current BE team stats/rankings:
Surprised:
2nd in steals
5th in FG % defense
5th in FG % offense
6th in 3pt FG % defense
3rd in assists
Not surprised:
Last in TO margin
Last in Scoring defense(interesting since % is not that bad)
Last 3pt % offense
But overall better than last year and better defensively than you would think.

There are some problems with the statistics you're looking at and comparisons you're trying to make.
Please explain.

Need tempo free like Pomeroy does. Also need to consider def reb %, foul rate, def turn over rate along with fg% defense. Pomeroy breaks it down well.
Umm, I was just commenting on how I was surprised(or not) where we rank currently in the BE in a few statistical categories - nothing more.

Part of the scoring defense issue results from the TO margin, which gives the other team more possessions.
We need to cut turnovers by 40-50%. Once we do, a whole lot of other problems will go away ... or at least be less problematic.
Agreed we can improve TO but not sure how much the 3 pt shooting % will increase.
