Al's second season. It marked the third year in a row that Marquette didn't make either the NCAA or NIT. Marquette has not gone three years without a bid to a post season tournament since that stretch.

I think it is clear that it may be matched this year.

It's also clear that Al should have been fired. Or at least that would have been clear to some Scoopers back then.

It was also Brian Brunkhorst's first year as a varsity player (soph back then).  He ended up getting drafted by the Knicks.
