Title: What's the deal with Steinsma?
Post by: CTWarrior on December 10, 2007, 11:54:06 AM
Didn't we really want him out of high school, too?  I seem to remember a lot of MU board posters saying he was going to be better than Butch and would be a great get for us.  Did he get hurt or something?  Because he hasn't end up doing a whole lot on the basketball court.

He's playing in an offense that has him 20+ feet away from the basket when his game is in the low post.  The swing was the worst thing that ever happened to him, and likely will be the worst thing that happened to JP Gavinski, and maybe even Keaton Nankivil.

He's normally (although this wasn't displayed in the MU game) thought of as a great perimeter passer, which might actually work to his disadvantage because it only encourages Ryan to station him far away from the basket, where he can't have any offensive impact, unlike Butch, who can occasionally hit a 3.  Stiemsma hasn't even attempted a 3 pointer all year.  Makes you wonder why you'd go to UW if you're a big lacking an inside-out game.

Stiemsma (4 star recruit) and Krabbenhoft (5 star recruit) aren't any better than Dwight Burke and Dan Fitzgerald.  You've got to wonder how Bo does it.

if i was cleveland stiemsma i wouldn't be happy on the perimeter either. just like if i was steve novak and crean put me in the post i would say, o.k., mb for a play or two, but not for an extended amount of time, i'm a shooter
