Ok, I'm as disappointed about last night's loss against the Bible College as anyone here. I don't think Belmont is anywhere near in the same class as we are -- and more importantly -- where we will be in a couple of months. I saw the last part of last night's game and I really thought we could have and should have won it.
If it is a learning experience -- we'll do well.
The fact is most of our team is freshmen and sophomores. It's going to take time for these guys to mesh. It's going to take time for some to realize their not playing in the WIAA anymore and it's going to take time for these guys to play well together. They made a lot of mistakes that had Al, John Wooden and Dean Smith all rolling in their graves. Al caught a lot of crap last night up on the college basketball cloud last night!
I'm one of the starry-eyeds who thought we had something special from the start. We have something special but it's going to take time.
Keep in mind that when Al had his first series of recruiting coups, it still took some time.
I would say that Belmont is easily a better team then Marquette now. They won't be in month but currently they are
Haven't been able to spend as much time as I'd like to have on this game. In fact, haven't even finished watching the whole game yet. WIAA Boy's State Volleyball Tournament has been going on the past 29 hours so I've been busy paying attention to that.
Having said that, we're going to finish in the top 3 in the Big East.
That is all.

Full attention, a'inal?
We're fine. It was a tough game to start the year with. Belmont can shoot and their strong shooting beat us. We're a slightly better team, but lost the game. Disappointing to lose a game, but this isn't Omaha.

I'd say that we're more talented/athletic, but currently, Belmont is the better team.

Looking down the road, if we are not a good enough team right now to beat Belmont with HE, how good will we be next season w/o him?

Not sure if this is serious, but I expect we will be a better team when we open the season on November 11, 2016 than we were on November 13, 2015 whether we have Henry in the lineup or not. I'm also confident that while we didn't beat Belmont Friday, we would most likely beat them if we played again in January and would handle them comfortably in March.
This is a very, very young team that played a very, very experienced team. Come this time next year, we will be far more experienced than we are right now, and I think you'll see the differences. Guys playing better team defense, better offensive decisions by the guards, picking our spots when it comes to shooting threes. Last year people constantly preached the "respect the process" mantra, it's not like the process ended with the first game of the 2015-16 season and we are a finished product that can compete for a national title right now.
I think the funniest bit right now is if Duane's poor-decision three had dropped, we probably win the game and people aren't pulling their hair out. We lost a close game against a good team. Honestly, I feel there were more positives from Friday night than negatives, despite the disappointing result. Henry is legit. We have two guys that can play the point, albeit needing seasoning. Sandy and Jajuan both looked improved. Take the good and accept that for the next 2-3 months, there will be bad to go along with it. This team will be better in February in March than they are now, and better next year to start the season than they are right now.
