Title: otule
Post by: Falkinator on December 10, 2007, 01:04:01 AM
Anyone have any recent statlines for Otule's games? I saw the first one, a triple double in blocks, a while ago and got really excited. So if anyone has access to this, i would love to see how he's been doing as of late.

Somebody asked on the other site, problem is the stats are really spotty.  The Houston Chronicle is the best one, but they don't do a good job of providing stats and what they have isn't totally correct.  You can go to their page to get an idea of what he's doing:

http://tinyurl.com/yvzeb2

But here's the problem.  The Chronicle doesn't give a complete box score for each game, yet when they calculate a players total points and PPG they use only the points that appear in their limited box score.  They don't give a complete box for the game, only the top 1-3 scorers for each team.  If a player does not appear among those listed, they have no stats for him and they do not include those games in any calculations.  Further, they are missing stats on two of the recent games completely, no information on what happened for either team.  What that means, is Otule's stats are incomplete. Of the fourteen games his team has played, they  are already down to 12 with stats because of the two missing.  Further, Otule does not appear among the leading scorers in 3 more.  Since he is not listed, those games are not included in his totals or averages.  We know from a site about Houston HS b-ball that in one of the games not listed on the Chronicle's site he had 9 points, but for the other 4, there just isn't any information out there.

So piecing together what we know from the Chronicle and RCS Sports(http://tinyurl.com/24hrrx) he's averaging 14.8 PPG in 10 of the games played.

And unfortunately, there are no stats available at all for rebounds, blocks, assists etc.  Strange for a city that produces so many college basketball players to have such crappy prep coverage.  But what we really need is some alum in Houston to see if the Chronicle actually has up to date information in the paper itself.

Individual game stats are hard to come by. He's averaging 15.4 ppg according to the Houston Chronicle

His team did play in a tournament this weekend, and won all but their last game (playing 5 games in 3 days).

A recap of one of those games is here

And if you scroll though those pictures, you find him here - #44

Strangely, according to the Chronicle one of the 5 games played in the last 3 days wasn't actually a part of that tournament.  Why you would play a game in the middle of a 4 game tournament I don't know, but they won by 19 so I don't know that it mattered much.

And FWIW, Otule was named to the all tournament team according to RCS Sports:  http://eteamz.active.com/HAAY/news/index.cfm?cat=213476
