Title: Jae Crowder is a Beast!
Post by: warriorchick on November 04, 2015, 09:40:15 PM
Made a full court shot.  Unfortunately, it didn't count because he was behind the baseline.

And they ended up losing by 2.  Count it!

He's lucky he made since everyone laughed about it. It was pretty dumb to throw that deep since the other team gets the ball back under the hoop with 1.1 seconds.

He should have tried out for the MU football team while he was here.

Davante hit a few long shots after the buzzer when he was here. Is that what Buzz had them practice instead of free throws?

So did Derrick Wilson.

Funny that you mention that because I saw an example Buzz using key practice time fooling around with long, long shots instead of traditional end of practice free throws, I attended the open practice for MU when we played an NCAA game in Phoenix.

MU had a serious closed morning practice so I didn't expect heavy duty effort. But V.Blue kept throwing up 1/2 to 3/4 shots while other were shooting FTs or other shot practicing. I was annoyed by what seemed a cavalier use of practice time by Blue and that no Coach told him to settle down to business... this thread reminded me of that.

Wait, you mean Bert let his team be loose and fool around for 5 minutes after practice was over heading into the NCAA Tournament?

THE HORROR!

I think you'll see this type of stuff pretty much anywhere in the country.

Yes.  Clearly Buzz had no idea how to coach and motivate a team that went to two S16s and another E8.  The only thing standing between us beating Syracuse and getting to the F4 was a couple extra free throw makes.

Okay so I now I actually read your post.

A few free throws?  No way.  Cuse dominated us that game.  IIRC they led by at least 8-10 for almost the entire game.  Even if MU had made a few more free throws, I think MU loses that game (Cuse would have adjusted).

Sorry for not being clear or misstating - Blue was fooling around a lot longer than the last  15 minutes of the allotted practice time. Sheesh, touchy about Buzzard? Being kept loose is one thing but it seemed to me that Blue in particular was just screwing around. Per the beginning of this thread, someone suggested the Buzzard did have his team practice ultra long shots - now, I understand that he did.

Just a piece of advice, never draw conclusions as to a coaching style based on what you see at an open practice leading up to the NCAA Tournament.  They're generally shootarounds.

Blue maybe was just screwing around.  And?  Buzz knew how to motivate and prepare is players more than you did.

Oh thank you great college BB guru. I know that. How many college practices have you been to? How many open practices before NCAA games? Kinda remind me of that know-it-all jackass grt8one on Dodds board, but at least he was a player and a MUHS coach.

Another know-it-all slurper of the Buzzard. Yeah, he motivated MU all the way to a disgraceful article on the front page of the ChicagoTribune for his lack of control of program.

If you have any cognitive capability and read my 2nd post, you'll see that I recognize that maybe that was a practice strategy of Curly. Maybe I should also bring up that we got beat pretty good, especially at the start MU was back on their heels, so the strategy sucked. Don't  need, nor would anyone, your condescending attitude. A pox of Ners upon you. See ya.

Sorry, pal/Willie/Mazos (you forgot which account you were logged into, apparently), but it doesn't take a know-it-all to know that you probably shouldn't be getting overly upset about a team/coach doing this in an open practice setting prior to an NCAA appearance over shooting some free throws...

Not quite as far, but Dwyane Wade nailed a buzzer beater from almost 3/4 court last night.  This one counted.
