MU with Michigan, SMU, and PITT as headliners at Madison Square Garden. Can never have too many games played at the Garden!!
Good stuff. Is this an exempt tourney? Since it's only 2 games I would if we could do a 3 day exempt holiday tourney and allow these to eat into our Non Conf games? With a more well defined roster, will be interesting to see how Wojo schedules.
Michigan should have a good team. Pitt is always tough. Will SMU still have a program?
Ring in the Marquette, Michigan location confusion.
Every day, when you wear Marquette paraphernalia around here.
Looks like I'm talking the wife into Thanksgiving in NYC next year.

I believe it's done the same way as the Legends Classic, where we get 1 or 2 home games that are "part of the tournament".
Didn't we already know they were playing in NYC next year?

Yes, but I believe this is the first time the other teams were announced.

Well, it won't be in a vacuum, we know that much.
How much of the 2016-17 schedule is already determined at this point? I get the impression that while still in progress the majority of work right now is the ground work for 2017-18 and beyond.
Well you have this tournament, Wisconsin at the BC and perhaps a Gavitt Games road game. Hopefully there will be some robustness beyond that as well.

We're already going to Brooklyn this year, followed by a short trip down the pike to Philly for Thanksgiving with my brother. So if all goes well, we can do a repeat next year!
This will be our first MU event like this -- with seats in the MU section and everything -- so I'm really looking forward to it. I hope it's as great an experience as I think it will be.

This is correct. We will play two games at MSG and get 1-2 games from the Legends assigned to us as home games. My only concern is that we may end up shorted a game because of this. Duke and Georgetown both have two home games arranged this year from the 2K, whereas Wisconsin and VCU have one game each. Last year, all four participants (Texas, Cal, Syracuse, Iowa) received two home games each, so hopefully that is available as an option, though BC scheduling may play into whether we get a total of three or four games.

According to this page on the 2K Classic site (http://www.gazellegroup.com/main/wwp/schedule-2/), Wisconsin is playing Siena & Prairie View, while VCU is playing Prairie View and Radford.
Pitt at MSG. Len Elmore already begging to broadcast.

Really hoping they give us Minny next year at the barn.

That make sense, and I'm glad to hear it. Would rather be guaranteed the 4 games. Guessing Prairie View was a replacement addition, don't think they were in that field originally.

Anyone planning to go down to NYC for the 2K Classic? I'd love to go. Curious if anyone has looked into the packages and what they thought. Looks like they offer tickets + hotel on the tournametn website, but thinking it may be more cost effective to go ala carte. Not sure.

I am going, but I live in NY. Hotels are expensive in Manhattan so maybe a package might be attractive.

I'll be there. The future Mrs. TAMU is from Long Island so the sell was pretty easy.

You buy tickets already, plan to later, or think you can just scalp them once there?
How much are tickets for the Outdoor White Tshirt practice?

Will probably go with whatever deal Marquette ends up offering.

Don't. There will be plenty of good seats available. Paying even face value for these pre-conf tourneys in NYC is usually not necessary.

This would be my first time doing something like this - how far in advance does Marquette usually release their packages/deal?
Thanks in advance for the info.

You can get them on Stub Hub for peanuts, and usually good seats. I went to the event in Brooklyn last year for $10 a ticket and then moved down right behind our bench.

Noted, I will just do that then. Good seats are like $150 a pop right now.

If you are going to stay outside the city, You can get a reasonably priced room (by NY standards) at the Crowne Plaza in White Plains and the Metro North trains which you can walk to run Continuously into Grand Central. There are also some hotels like Hampton Inns near Laguardia airport if you book early enough you can get similar rates.

Yeah, I paid $50/apiece for Brooklyn and almost immediately wish I had done what you did. It was my first time going to an MU in-season tournament and I wanted to make sure I got to sit with the Marquette crowd. I won't make that mistake again!

Look at it this way , You had a great time and we won.
Only Holiday tournament that one has to pay full price is Maui.
Wish it were Thanksgiving week. Just won't have the vacation time to do it. Otherwise I'd be there.

Trying to talk the wife into it, but she's going to NYC next month with friends and already agreed to go out to Annapolis for Vanderbilt. Two MU trips in two weeks might be a bit much.

May be true for 2017, but not true with the UNC leisure suiters last time who drove up the prices for all session tickets so they could secure their seats for the Heels game (or the Dookies before that). 2017 has more football schools in lineup over Thanksgiving, including the Domers.
MU fans prefer the one and done game to get back to their Coconut Porters.
