I really enjoyed this one. Our guys will not play in a louder, more hostile environment this year and they played like "upper classmen". Of course its early but that is the kind of poise you need to win in the tournament.
Now for the question. Can someone explain why Bo never once tried to play zone against us. We were carving them up inside. Even when both Hughes and Flowers had to sit with fouls leaving them hopelessly out quicked he still didn't play a zone.
I have never seen Bo Ryan play zone ever...I just don't think he's that kind of coach, one of my UW buddies said "he would die before he plays a zone." But, to answer your question I am not sure why teams don't play a 2-3 extended zone against us. We seem to struggle with that most of the time, but we are getting better each game I guess.

Even Coach K threw the match-up zone at us in Maui. I thought Bo threw a zone at Illinois last year on the road...(so with a big slow team and Fitz out, Bo decided to play man the entire way). Irregardless, TC "pantsed" him today. We set the tempo from the get-go, scored in the 80's vs. 60's, outrebounded a much bigger team, had much better sub rotations--especially in the second half--and our offensive scheme in the half court created a lot of open lanes and shots off back picks (loved how TC left Mo in in the mid 2nd half to run point to create a mismatch to get spacing for DJ and JM to get to the hoop). Why Butch wasn't in the game late is beyond me (Bo said he needed quickness, but we kept grabbing key rebounds). TC seemed to have the play that worked after every time out. Maybe his best game coaching day.

Just throwing it out there...they played it for one possession of ours and we got an uncontested layup...but yeah not sure why they didn't use it other than that.

I disagree with this. I think L-Ville will be tougher. I was at the game today and overall I was disappointed with the Madison fans, especially in the first half. It almost seemed as if there were already sure they were going to lose. They weren't loud, they weren't in anyones face... it was just weak. The student section was pathetic too, they were syncronized which was pretty cool but they were super quiet, I may be biased but Ill take our student section over theres any day of the week

Hey, help out an out of stater here. It's often hard to decipher the chants from the student section while watching the game on TV. What were the rodent fans chanting?
I've never been to a game at Louisville but this is my second time to the Kohl and from where I was sitting the noise a couple times when the Badgers tied or got within one was deafening. The Bradley center can get loud but not like this. I can't imagine how a place can be much louder.
The chants were a little mumbled from where we were too... but we talked to a student after the game (im assuming youre talking about what they were chanting at DJ after the double T's)... she said they were saying "DJ beats his gf" and then switched to "DJ beats his bf"... classy
When you beat a Bo Ryan team at home that is 96-7 - lets not question his coaching instincts, but give credit to the MU team.
you dont even here Bo and Zone in the same sentence usually. that's the way it is

If by BF they meant Trevon Hughes than I agree.
