Whats the word on Fitz for this weekend and/or the future????
I'd guess information will be given out like the McNeal injury last year. Have to leave the opponent guessing!
That being said, if he is out for the Wisconsin game maybe there will be some more information released after the game as we don't exactly have the biggest baddest teams for the next month leading into conference play.
If you go to the Chicago Tribune (that's right not the Journal Sentinal) they have this tidbit:
QuoteMarquette forward Dan Fitzgerald is listed as day to day with a sprained left wrist. He did not play against Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Crean said more would be known on Fitzgerald's status by game time. In early-week practices he was limited to conditioning workouts rather than shooting.
On the Tom Crean TV show last night .. TC discussed it but was non-committal. Said "He should be back in the foreseeable future" "day to day" .. that kind of stuff. I'd be surprised if he played.
I honestly think that his absence will be a deciding factor. Without him, either Lazar plays a ton of minutes and has a huge game, or we are going to need contributions from Trend and Hazel. I am not optimistic about any game where we are counting on Trend and Hazel.
I also believe its a huge blow to us if he's not out there....
actually we're in some trouble if he doesn't.
i don;t think trend and hazel factor in much here. i think christopherson gets thrown into the fire and picks up fitz's minutes. he'll most likely just hang out by the three-point line, but that's pretty much all crean had fitz doing this year anyway...
I hope he can play because this will be one of those few games where he might not be the slowest white guy on the court. ;)
Perhaps a Willis Reed-like performance is in Dan Fitzgerald's future.
it's not about fitz dancing around the 3 point line...it's we're going to need all the size we can get for this game. period.
Thursday night, Fitz held the door of Humphrey open for my drunk ass, but I was together enough to notice a wrist brace :-\

Yep, Fitz hasn't taken a 2 point FG attempt all year.
My friend overheard a conversation that Fitz was having with someone who had asked about his injury. Apparently it happened while taking a charge in practice...
Another practice injury... whats up with that? Seems to happen every year with this team.

i disagree. we try to match their size and get out of our style, we lose. duke showed if you pressure the ball and make outside shots, you can win without matching up down low.
As much as I miss his 3 pt ability, I do not miss his lack of interior play, little desire to take over a game, hesitancy to shoot the ball, and slow feet.
I say MU let his eligibility pass and free up a scholly.
Let the young ones play.
