Good to see a former MU-er land on his feet. How long will it take for him to have a sweat-stained Zip hat?

This is a very good landing place for Larry. They have a nice new 30,000 seat football stadium and a successful coach in Terry Bowden, member of the MAC and Lebron James endowing student scholarships for the University at large. I think he will do a good job for them.
Looks like Larry's connection to his old ND coach is still paying off. Gerry Faust still has a lot of connections at Akron.
The return course has been diverted.

Or he might have been the most qualified candidate for the job.

Former Marquetter Mack Rhoades (now the AD at Missouri) was responsible for a lot of that stadium build.
It is a good landing spot for Larry. Wonder if he will schedule a game with Va. Tech. 8-)
Larry ended up runner up to the Santa Clara University AD job which turned into a fiasco for Santa Clara.
I could not find the pre-hire article that discussed he was in the final three....but what a slap in the face.
Attached is an article by Jon Wirner (may remember the name...always voted MU high in the Associate Press poles back in the Bert days) discuss the hire of Syracuse assistant AD who was involve with the Basketball cover-up with Fab Melo mess. Big PR mess for Santa Clara.

Pilarz is at the high school level and LW is in the MAC. Good spots for both. Good luck, Scott. Good luck, Larry.

Hey! That's not just any high school! That's the oldest all-male school in the United States!

This may well be a great spot for Larry, but as someone who live near Akron, the vast majority of the financial news coming from that place is absolutely terrible. The new president is cutting jobs left and right (a couple hundred recently) and just cut the baseball program to save cash. Regarding that new stadium, there is this from a recent article (http://www.ohio.com/news/break-news/university-of-akron-to-cut-215-jobs-baseball-program-to-save-40-million-1.607079): "...the $60 million financial problem is the result of neglected repairs, unsustainable administrative expenses, the need to invest strategically and annual debt payments of $38.6 million,
including $4.3 million to finance the nation's lowest attended football stadium."
I don't know all the ins and outs of Akron's athletics department, but most of what I'm seeing in the paper and on the news around here would make me question whether Akron is a great place to land right now.
He is going to try to make their programs into another St. Louis.

It's funny you should say that. I noticed that in my post and thought it was odd...but didn't notice that it was different from the original article. After I saw that, I found myself thinking, "I'm reasonably well educated and have...probably...a better than average vocabulary. But I've seen that word a couple of times in the last couple of weeks and I swear I don't recall ever seeing it before that."
A quick search shows that it has shown up in a couple recent threads. Is it a filter? (apparently) A joke I am not in on? I understood what it "meant" from context, but I figured it was just a hot "new" word.
One poster here uses the word "a-i-n-a" in place of "right?"
Looks like the filter could use a little word boundary work!

haha, funny. I've been trying to imagine a scenario in which "unsustainable" needed the auto-correct treatment but try as I might nothing comes to mind. Oh well, at least my stroke scare has been averted.

He'll really have his work cut out for him getting the football program to SLU's level. Is SLUify a word?
