May be the most undersung person in the Marquette program. Look at how much muscle Sandy and Luke put on, couple that with saying I can't remember a time over the past 5 years or so where I've thought we lost a game cause our team ran out of gas. In fact, it's quite the opposite.
Look at the end of the first half when Sandy is inbounding. There is an incredible transformation in his physique. A transformation that will help us down the road.
How much does his job change under Wojo vs. Buzz? Skill development vs. Boot Camp, IQ vs. toughness, players vs. athletes? These are generalizations, but either way, he has to have these boys ready to compete. That can mean different things to different coaches.

I do think Todd does a great job of tailoring the players' regimens to the desires of the coaching staff. With Buzz, those guys were build like Mack trucks and could have run through a brick wall for him after playing a triple-overtime game. I'll never forget the Murray State coach saying DJO and Jae looked like they belonged at a Spring football camp.
I expect Wojo will be looking for more lean muscle while maintaining conditioning levels, at least in the front court. Looking at the guards that are excelling under him, it's guys with a leaner physique like Duane and Matt. Though Traci may break that mold. I was amazed how strong he looks already. Kid has the physique of a veteran already.
One thing I thought was interesting from the SI article was how much biometric analysis the team is doing in trying to manage the wear and tear on the bodies. I think Todd is a tremendous asset as is the whole exercise science program. Can't prove it but it'll make a difference in a game or two this season.

Agree on Traci's strength. Anim is physically ready as well along with Henry. Heldt is probably the only freshman that definitely needs to get stronger, and maybe Cheatham but that's less of a problem if the staff has him playing PG.

Had a very interesting conversation with Todd during 50th alumni anniversary visit and there are a lot of new things going on.
His emphasis on speed is obvious to me. I agree that body mass and muscle development is there, the big new however to me is speed.
These guys are fast and that is the focus of the training program.
In fact, according to Todd, it is the emphasis of all the MU sports programs.
For what it's worth, I felt I was always a better coach when I had faster players.

Not on your life, but we did like the Willywompum mascot. If there was a tunnel I don't remember ever seeing it, I know I never used it. It might be an urban legend. It was more fun to dodge the busses on the Ave.
Most interesting difference to me about current day basketball games is that the students are in the cheap seats under the basket. We sat mid court, up front like the fat cats do today.

I had the game on while I was "working from home" and tried to pay attention as much as I could. I noticed a significant difference in the muscle Luke had added. Will be great for him when working down low.

No urban legend on da tunnels. There were at least 2 of them, right around 11th and another at about 13th. Don't recall when they were closed over by da city. Of course, that was at the same time when Red Arrow Park was located smack dab in what is now the Marquette Interchange. Good times back then, hey?

Vogue - I loved the Fin 'n Feather (good bar food) but rarely went as it was a bit too far west of campus for me. IIRC, it was a hangout for my buddies in Sig Phi (one of the engineering frats).
I was at MU from 66-70. My freshman and sophomore year's were spent at Schroeder Hall, about a 100 yard dash from Milt's. 25c to go greasy burgers, and if you bought $1's worth they gave you a 5th for free. When we returned in '67 for our sophomore year the name had changed to Dal's. I think she had been the manager and bought it from Milt (whoever he was).

I was a bartender at the Fin'n Feather '66, remember the night the secret service came with Linda-bird Johnson, customers were three deep as usual, think it was a Thursday night. I served her, she was wearing a wig, I had no idea what was going on until closing.
In a few years you too can go to the 50th reunion and have a big time reality check.
