I understand why they are doing it, but the committee looks to see how you schedule the part that you control.  This is a big bet.  Put another way, if this team does pretty well and is in bubble territory, the schedule will be an albatross.

I don't know how many people are predicting NCAA for this team this coming season, but in my view they will have to win a few extra games than the normal "line" to get in because the non-conference schedule is going to be poor.

Based on what he said regading scheduling and the current team, it would be a good guess to assume they do not think the NCAA is likely this year. With so many newcomers, that is a reasonable assumption.
