while jordan spieth is going one way(-4 after 6 holes), tiger is going the other(+3 thru 5). in actuality, all the golfers really need for tiger to do well. as tiger goes, so does their paychecks until guys like rory(quit the soccer heyna) and spieth really take over and the golf peoples accept them and many of the other young rising talent to carry the torch
Rory, Ricky, and Jordan are already carrying the torch. The only ones who don't want to acknowledge that are the media outlets who know that Tiger brings in the casual viewer.

I agree
If Speith wins the British, Tiger will be long forgotten in short order. I really have no idea what audience a successful Tiger even brings in now that isn't already there. Dustin Johnson is also turning into one of the torch bearers and with the Gretzky and some kind of self-abuse story lines there is plenty to entertain casual fans.
Golf popularity in general is down, especially with millennials and Tiger has nothing for them anyway. The young guys are the best shot golf has to rope in new fans
You guys are crazy. Tiger being in contention (not that it ever happens anymore) brings eyeballs, and would again, that these other guys simply don't. To try to deny that phenomenon is silly. Real 'golf fans' I may not care, but if Tiger is involved, more people who otherwise don't give a rip will tune in, plain and simple.
My hommie, Jordan Niebrugge, doin' himself proud, ai na? Will be the next Sconnie dude to cash paychecks on the Tour.

I just threw up on my shoes.
I don't play or watch golf. And I typically don't even bother to click on golf threads. Frankly, I'm only here because the thread title gave me hope that it was about a British porn star. :)
But as someone who really doesn't pay attention, I can tell you that none of the names mentioned earlier in this thread come close to Tiger in terms of making non-fans stop and listen to a story about golf. Frankly, while I had heard of all the names mentioned in earlier posts, I honestly couldn't have told you until now whether they were golfers, hockey players or NASCAR drivers. That was never an issue with TW - everybody knew who he was (even before his personal issues).
FWIW.

Ya sure that's barf and not some utter bodily fluid, hey?

patrick reed is another one i like to watch. would love to see another dustin-jordan pissing contest. anything to show dusty's main squeeze on the sidelines...often. jordies girl is decent, but a couple more majors and he'll be stealing rickies girl. actually pulling for jordan to win his 3rd major
So, how many shekels didn't Niebrugge make for his 6th place finish, hey?
He is known as Eldrick
The final 9 holes of a closely contested major very well could be the best sports theater on television.
It does help to have it on DVR, though. Really came in handy for the playoff. Forwarded past all the long walks up the fairways, and all the diddlin' around the greens.
