I am helping coach an 8-and-under coach pitch travel team. There is a revolving door of assistant coaches depending on their schedule. Today, for the first time, I met one of the head coach's friends, who helped out today, but has never actually been at any of the team practices. ND t-shirt, ND sunglasses, world class condescending douche. Not particularly good with the kids, convinced he was the smartest guy on the field while simultaneously screwing up repeatedly as the first base coach. Living up/down to every clichéd expectation I have for an ND alum. One of only a small handful of people I have ever met that I just wanted to punch within the first 10 minutes of knowing them. While simultaneously laughing my ass off on the inside as this guy exemplifies ND.
Did the sonuvabitch pick his nose so you could notice his ND class ring??

50% chance the guy didn't even go to ND and just bought all that stuff on a Walmart sale rack!!

I have never understood wearing a school's sh1t if you never went there. And wearing any sunglasses other than Oakley or Native is wrong.

Is Tom Ford ok?
My son's high school mascot is the Fighting Irish.....it has been painful at times.

Wow. Now I am starting to wonder whether Keefe really was a fighter pilot.

Sunglasses in the cockpit went out with silk scarves. The canopies are polarized and helmets are now part of the integrated glass cockpit with two visors for different situations.
The USAF still issues rated officers (those with an aeronautical rating) and enlisted flight crew sunglasses (not Ray Bans) but these are as useful while flying today's aircraft as the A2 leather flight jacket. Both are part of the tradition and heritage of the AF that goes back to open cockpits.
And here's the bottom line on Ray Bans - they are about as common among fighter pilots as Priuses are in the squadron parking lot.
Funny you mention that. I was at Taste of Lakeview in Chicago last night and everybody was happy and a great time. (even Sox and Cubs fans were getting along) The one guy I saw in Notre Dame gear had the most pissed off face I have ever seen and had that look like he was better then everyone else. Oh well, Domers gonna Dome.
Maui jims baby, Clothing optional ;D

I'm not pilot but the worst pair of Ray-Bans trumps the best pair of Oakleys eight days a week.

Ooh, can't agree with that

Ray Bans just don't stand up to tough field conditions. Oakleys and Natives are very hard core and will last for a few deployments.
True story: we had a ROMAD in Iraq who wore a pair of plastic Ray Bans. The heat melted off the rubber nose piece. Anbar is NOT the place to be without protective eye wear.
Ray Ban vs. Oakley
::)
Same damn company, people. It's like arguing about which car makes you more awesome... the Pontiac Firebird or Chevy Camaro.
That said... Oakley all the way.
Why is there an 8u coach pitch travel team? Seriously stuff like that should be done at the rec level.
There are year-round teams around here, but the team I coach is basically an all-star team from our little league.
