My guess is he's looking to get some kind of assistant spot.

My guess is that he simply went to visit his coach in the off season. Remember that he isn't from that far from there.
Looks as though his team missed out on promotion to the top French league by an early loss in the playoffs.

At least it's not the midwest satellite campus.
Automatic sports a slimmed-down look. Might help with his defense.

My current client is in Roanoke which is only 30 miles away from VPI and you see Hokies shirts everywhere. Makes me laugh whenever I say "you guys have our old basketball coach: Buzz Williams." Invariably people say "Who? Oh, I don't really follow b-ball".

Everybody laughs but that guy has a formula and he is about to begin employing it this season. And while the ACC has strength at the top there is a lot of open territory below those first 3-4.
While I appreciate Bert's success at Marquette I am relieved he is gone. Wojo is demonstrating an alternative approach to building a winner and while he has yet to validate the model at Marquette I am more comfortable with his stewardship than I ever was with Bert.
At the end of the day Bert has a higher risk tolerance than most coaches and certainly Marquette's Administration while his prima donna personae manifests itself in bizarre ways that contradicts his every man schtick and actually characterizes him as an awfully weird f#ck.

I think Buzz needs one more year. The talent at the bottom of the ACC is all getting better this year. Pitt, FSU, Georgia Tech, Clemson and Virginia Tech will all be better this year. The only one who will be worse is our Jesuit brethren up in Chestnut Hill. I think Virginia Tech finishes second to last in the ACC.

Buzz will win down there to a point, eventually the basketball pedigrees will sick the dogs on him and they will start to poke around the program...and that is where the fun will start.

Bert will register improvement but he will never be an ACC upper quartile program at VT. I have no idea of the time line but he will get them out of the cellar

maybe someone has pointed this out on any of the other countless posts following buzz' departure-both he and crean kind of left the MU program the same way-abruptly and without warning. as ya'll remember, buzz was a tc protege. ok, look at tommy's standing at indiana right now-my take is that he is/has worn out his honeymoon-heynie? well, how much time before buzz will be getting on VT's nerves? get it? apples and trees baby!
no doubt, buzz has a gift...for coaching. now he's got to get the other parts right-how to kiss arse without kissing arse. just no tongue ;D

The difference is that the Bronze Beast of Bloomington arrived in town promising a return to greatness. After almost a decade he has yet to deliver anything but mediocrity.
The Indiana faithful may be delusional but the Beast's failure to deliver on his promise has only served to make their delusional all the more unreasonable and therefore incredibly pathetic.

You will have to show me those promises....was their a sit down and a promise of not one, not two, not three, but 6 titles or whatever?
IU fan base is delusional. They think they are elite, they are anything but. Fact is, they have one outright title in the conference in 20 years...that is pathetic, but even then only the current coach could pull that off. They have only 3 Sweet 16's in the last 20 years, also pathetic...then again, the current coach has two of those.
They will make the NCAAs this year for the the 4th time in 5 years, I'm not certain but I believe that hasn't been done in along time either. That's how far they have fallen. Perfect APR score this year.

Wait, a new coach at a program trying to delver meat to a fan base described the job as one of the best, to get them excited, especially with NCAA sanctions on the horizon? Oh my....I am astonished. Some people talk about hope and change. Some people promise full transparency. Some promise a half dozen NBA titles. Some coaches promise not to break NCAA rules while recruiting...ahem.
Now, again...show me the promises that were made.
If I recall they were about returning the school back to not having academic issues, competing again for the Big Ten (which they won), returning to the NCAAs (which they have), so on and so forth.
Is it enough? Probably not, though the idiots on this site that have said how many times he would be fired by now have been so wrong MU 82's head must be pulling a full 360 exorcism spinner move by now.
Our Final Four keeps getting further and further in the rear view mirror....

It's between Hope Solo and Steve Kerr right now.
All the craze the last few days around here is having some backup for people's comments. Inspired by MU82, Pakuni and Sultan. Feels like we should have the MLA handbook issued for everyone so they can footnote. Trying to get ahead of the compliance curve. About all those promises....
I don't see what the hate on Crean is. He put the team into national spotlight and made Indiana relevant again. Why do we constantly deny that he is a decent coach/team builder.

He's getting chased out of Indiana for a reason.
I'd contend that he is excellent at developing a team's brand and crafting a great gameday experience. He's also a solid recruiter.
You're off base on calling him a good coach, though.

Is he? Almost every coach is chased at one point. Either into quitting, retiring, firing, or moving on. Not all, but most.
It's been fun watching the predictions the last 5 or 6 years and people falling on their faces. They will be a very good team this year barring any major injuries.

This.
Crean can run one hell of a dog and pony show. He is great at hyping the program, getting a$$es in seats, and getting the team into a national spotlight. He is a decent recruiter and can elevate a program to respectability, but when it comes time to perform in the postseason, he craps the bed. There will always be a program trying to get back into NCAA-tournament-level respectability that will be interested in his services, but dollars to donuts he doesn't make another Final Four again the rest of his career.
Tom is also a tireless worker and crafts a very solid game-plan. Unfortunately I do not think he has any feel for the game once the clock starts, he's not much help.
If TC could have Mike Deane on the bench coaching for him and Buzz to tell weird stories at the Fish Fry and Wojo to schmooze with donors and KO to party with after conference tourneys, it would be a dream staff.
