Title: Consumer technology has come a long way
Post by: jesmu84 on May 12, 2015, 08:33:09 PM
This, to me, even among cell phones, computers, etc, is amazing.

I don't have a drone. Or even a GoPro. But I would consider buying this.

Holy crap, only $520?

I got a small drone a year ago for $80 and I've enjoyed taking (crappy) aerial videos .. No doubt, I'll have a better one in my future, but the prices for solid ones are typically 4 figures.

That Lily?  At that price point?  Whoa.  Bright future.

Amazing. But will these things start falling from the sky and landing on the heads of people? I may need to start wearing a helmet 24/7 like ZFB.

I wonder.. in a basketball arena with maybe a 60 foot ceiling.. if you could use this thing? Crazy.

From what I've read about this particular model, you set the distance away you want it to be away from you. It also lacks collision detection, so you'd better make sure there isn't an object in its path.

I'm tempted to pre-order.

got a $100 model from verizon as part of a sales promo-they are really cool, but takes some time to master the maneuvers.  plan on these things getting a little bruised up before you are ready to do a fly-over the country club swimming pool or apartment roof tops ;D

That is incredible. Guess my biggest worry would be trees. Still, may be worth the investment. $520 seems pretty cheap.

That is totally awesome, my only concern would be the airspace.  I'd definitely use it when skiing or when humping through national parks.

I could see a lot of other people doing the same thing and these things colliding.  #richpeopleproblems

I'm guessing you didn't actually watch the video.  Throw it in the air, and it tracks you.  There is no "controller".

i was referencing my $100 special-way more difficult to control, especially in the wind.  yours is a little(a lot) better and obviously more user friendly
