Tevin Mack is a VCU signee that asked out of his NLI now that Shaka is gone. He's a small forward from South Carolina and the number 47 player in the class. I saw a tweet this morning that South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Clemson, UCLA, Kansas, and Marquette have all reached out to him.
Anyone know anything about this guy? If we can land Damion Lee and Tevin then I'm almost ready to book my hotel in Houston next year.
Seems likely he ends up at Texas. Would be a good get, but would be very surprised if we made up enough ground to land Mack.
It came down to VCU and Georgia last time. But given that the coach he committed to is at Texas, that would be my guess. We have a lot of wings on the roster, hard to see him picking us.
Let's just hope Wojo doesn't cool on him.

I thought there was a rule against a coach rerecruiting his old schools players?
Mack was already recruited hard by South Carolina, Georgia, and Clemson. VCU and Texas both have an inside edge as he committed to one and committed to the coach of the other. I find it hard to believe he will pick any of the schools that weren't there from the start. Maybe Kansas, but more likely them, UCLA, and us are just throwing darts in the dark hoping to hit a bullseye.

But it's Wojo. All he does is throw recruiting bullseyes.

You mean like what happened this time last year when Hill and Pierce ended up at VT?
There is no such rule......

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! No.
They have to be released from their NLI, but that is pretty much an informality.

You sure? I remember everyone here saying that Brent was taking a while to hire Chew so that Chew could talk to these recruits and since Chew was not technically on the VT staff, he was technically not violating any rules.

That was while the were still signed with MU. No coaches in any program can recruit another player who is signed to an NLI with another program. Once they are released it's all fair game.

Yeah Hill was released on April 16. Chew signed with VPI on April 17.
Not a coincidence.

you mean there is another school besides us that doesn't put a clause in the letter of intent so players can't follow the ex-coach? Just kidding, I don't know if those are typical or not, but believe a lot of TExas A&M potential signees took note of Shaka showing up.

Word on Twitter is Texas is favored followed by recommitting back to VCU. All others are thought to be a long-shot,
as of now.
