MUBB alum Jon Harris was named one of two finalists for the SIUE (Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. Alabama interim coach John Brannen is the other. Brannen is a nine year assistant under Anthony Grant at Bama and VCU. Harris has been a long time assistant at different stops with fellow St. Louis Metro East native Cuonzo Martin. There was a lot of interest from some good candidates.
The good news is SIUE has been making positive strides in recent years as a school, and switching back to D-I athletics. Among the challenges is SIUE has had one of the handful of smallest hoops budgets in the country until recently.
Good luck to Jon.
SIUE is probably in a better position in the long-run than regular ole Southern Illinois.

Sadly, I agree. SIU-Carbondale has a terrible basketball program that not even the kids on campus support. And the sad thing is that the people of the community and region really want it to work.
It's a good program that needs a restart badly.

I also mean as an overall University. Carbondale is in the middle of nowhere and shrinking. Edwardsville is in suburban St. Louis and growing.
Congrats to Jon for getting the job and good luck.
Congrats Jon!
Awesome. If Barone gets the GB job we'll really be flooding the D1 ranks.
