Timers. RIP.

Timers, the venerable Walker's Point tavern, has quietly closed and has been replaced by a new bar called The General's.
The bar, 739 S. 1st St., was being managed by Frank Zoboroski when OnMilwaukee.com profiled Timers in April, 2006. The owner, Mike Pelsey, had retired to La Crosse after running the bar for about 25 years.
It's not known when Timers officially closed, but the signs have been removed and replaced by two banners indicating that "The Generals now open" and a window decal, illustrating a red, saluting general. The decal refers to the "The General's" with an apostrophe, while the posters do not.
Timers' phone number was not disconnected as of this morning, but no one answered, either. According to the City's liquor license records, Elizabeth Kujawa, a representative for the Triple Belt Corporation, was granted a Class B "tavern, dance, cigarette & tobacco" license at a Common Council meeting on Oct. 23.
Check back on OnMilwaukee.com for more information about this new bar.
Not really as a former colleague of mine is now the owner.
