1. There is a reason Nova has the record they do. There is a reason they are a likely #1 seed. They are that good. Quicker at every position.
2. They clearly had a great scout against MU. They were beating MU to their offensive spots. They would not let MU get the ball where they wanted and anticipated every pass.
3. And when they rain 3's....... Just sick.
4. MU looked 2 steps slow all game. Part of it is that Nova is quicker. Part of it is that MU did not play its bench enough in a blowout and had a short turnaround. But most of it was Nova.
5. I really hope the young guys were paying attention. Now they know what elite looks like. Now they know what they have to work to become.
6. MU's zone at the beginning should have been more effective, theoretically. But then the avalanche started.
7. As good as Derrick was last night, he was totally outclassed today. He was slow with his passes, Nova closed fast.
8. But he wasn't alone.
9. That is that. Thank you, seniors. On to next year.
10. the second leading scorer on the team is benched the last 15 minutes of the game. WTF, Wojo???

Clearly the difference in the outcome.
Fischer (2 rebounds), Duane, JJJ and Cohen need more bulk. Hope the strength coach can put some muscle on those guys in next 7 months.
Nova also isn't going anywhere. Archie, Hart, Ennis, and Ochefu are all back along with 5-star recruit Jalen Brunson. After some bumps in the road, Jay Wright really has that program humming.

Who cares. The game was done in the first half...
If it were a fight, they would've stopped it.
On to next year.

Not sold yet until Wright does something in the Dance.

So what is that point? No difference in outcome but why did the rest of the guys play? Clearly a difference in the outcome? When you are only on pace to score 40, you need some firepower in there. Wojo has a long way to go as a game coach.

Jesus...read the thread before you respond.
Ok My bad. That says a lot about Fox's broadcasting, as nobody said anything during the game. They obviously did not know or did not try to find anything out.

Undoubtedly due to the collision with sideline advertising banner yesterday. that was vicious.

I don't remember when I have seen this. Leading scorer, tied for lead in rebounds, huge lead in assists, 9 turnovers. Way to go out in style, Derrick.

I hate saying this since I consider them a rival, but Nova is really the program I hope MU becomes.

I think so too. Just glad this season is mercifully over, although I will miss Carlino.
Well boys and girls, it has been a long year. A few highs, a number of lows, but two in a row to close things out before losing to a much stronger team.
All in all a lot less than I hoped for, but only a little less than I expected. Unlike the dark days of yore when piano keys tinkled in the background as we slunk away in what I can only describe as a form of beaten down acceptance of a disappointing performance I do have hope. It is clear this coaching staff is not at all satisfied with the way this team played and has been hard at work to change that. That gives hope.
See you in the fall!

If it hadn't already happened, I'm guessing Ners' head is exploding again.
Glad he went out and fought. Had been killing his FT average the last 3 games.

True, but with the talent he has had he should be better than 13-11 in postseason.
No need to arrange for a long lunch on a Wednesday or Thursday during the first week of the NCAA tournament.
the difference between a 1 seed and a conference bottom feeder. thank God this season is over. hopefully next year is more exciting to watch

Pretty strong teams for conference bottom feeders. The key to the second ranked conference by average RPI.

Almost a triple double.
The past 3 games have been good markers for the team. It was nice to see our underclassmen get a chance to feel what winning was like. A season like this tends to be rough on one's psyche, so to have nice wins against Depaul and the Hall was a nice way to go. The Nova game gives them a chance to see what they need to become. What an elite team really looks like and what to aspire to.
The result was what we thought it'd be.

Are you kidding me!? I'm still taking both days off, and just won't have the stress of MU playing (though admittedly I wish I had the stress).

Wouldn't that be Thursday or Friday? Nothing happening during the day on Wednesday.
The way Villanova shot today, I do not think even Kentucky would of beaten them today. However, I still think Nova goes down in sweet 16. They will not shoot like that every night.
Scoopers 25 months from now: "Incredible! We won the national championship!!"

Yeah, with or without MU, the tournament is still a great spectacle. Highlight of the sports calendar for me every year.

Unfortunately, I never said that. And you have never said anything remotely clear. But to each his own.
But I will say this: That was an incredible beat down today. And as an MU fan, I am embarrassed. Meanwhile you would say,
"We did not have enough depth". But there is always next year.

Unfortunately, your words imply that you will find something wrong with Wojo regardless of the final record. I think MU82's quote may be off but you'd find something to fault in the coaching staff's execution.

Why is it that certain people just try to find the negative in everything. I can't even imagine living life this way and having so much bitterness and strong need to find fault in others. As you learned, he was "benched" because of an injury, but even before that was revealed to you was it necessary to say WTF to Wojo. There will be many, many, many decisions over the course of a season that the coaching staff will make, that might not make sense to us because we are not at practice, in team meetings or individual meetings with the players. How guys like you, Ners or Texas Western can be so confident(and vocal about it) that Wojo is screwing up just because you don't understand why he is doing something is beyond me. Running a D1 basketball team is far more complicated than any of us can imagine and so far I have been impressed with what Wojo has brought to the table and he will keep growing as a game coach, which of course will become much easier for him with better players that he personally recruited, more depth and more height.
Fun Fact:
We scored 49 points; Nova scored 51 -- on 3-pointers alone!
OK, you're right ... that wasn't very fun at all.
Nova whupped on us like a 16 seed vs. a #1

Good for you. You found something positive in a 35 point ass whupping. When I made the post, there had been no mention of an "injury" and when learned I stated it was my bad. I also apologize that I do not meet you illustrious expectations--but you do not know me, so spare the pontificating. Perhaps you are seeking political office. This is a chat board.
