Hayward makes offensive strides in Maui
Lahaina, Hawaii -- Like last season, Marquette continued to have problems guarding the dribble-drive and the dribble-handoff Wednesday night. They allowed 34 points in the paint to Duke and a few too many open three-pointers.
Defending versatile wing players and consistent perimeter shooting (Dominic James was 0-of-3 Wednesday from the arc after going 4-of-6 Tuesday vs. Oklahoma State) will continue to be question marks.
However, head coach Tom Crean had to be pleased with the inside scoring of Lazar Hayward over the last three games. Hayward scored a total of 36 points in the three games and was 13-of-25 from the from the floor.
While The Golden Eagles continue to search for consistency down low, it appears that Hayward provides Marquette with some much-needed versatility on the blocks.
