Good friend, my best man. There was a time I was hoping he would become the AD at MU, but he's way beyond that at this point with a football school.
He'll be the AD at a Pac 12 school within 10 years if I had to guess.
Some of you might remember him in the Blue and Gold fund office for several years.

UH went through conference shift, new FB stadium, and upgrading every phase of their program. Mac did a great job, but in doing so, it was only a matter of time and big $$ that a power 5 would scoop him up. Coogs are grateful and wish him well

I spoke to him today via text. He was excited, but also a bit sad. Leaving a lot of people he cares about. It was 20 years ago we were grad students together. He's done very well. Couldn't be happier for him and his family.

Well, as the Houston AD he recently hired Kelvin Sampson as the men's basketball coach - so "a little squirmy" would qualify as an understatement. Given Mizzou's recent history, they'll be on board with that sort of stuff.

My daughter is named after him, he was my best man in my wedding, his wife took care of me after emergency surgery in grad school for over a week, on and on. Wonderful family.
I have no idea the drivel Lenny wrote, but can only imagine. Mack's a good dude. I don't always agree with some of his coaching hires or his taste in NFL teams (he's a Vikings fan), but good man. The SEC is a land mine of a conference, he's going to have tough challenges to win, do it right, etc. Many have failed, I hope he can pull it off.

Hilarious. Look, he may be a "good dude", but less than a year ago he hired as head coach college basketball's most infamous cheater of this century. You simply cannot get any more "just win, baby" than that. He's gonna have a tough challenge to "do it right" at frickin' Missouri? Don't make me laugh. It looks as though he isn't going to have to hire a football coach for awhile. Pinkel has WAY overperformed at Mizzou considering their current conference affiliation.
Kim Anderson *might* be over his head as a basketball coach however.

Sometimes coaching hires are forced onto AD's and reasons why AD's look to move on. Lenny is so smart and knows so much about college athletics, I'm sure he knew that.

No. Sampson first got Oklahoma into hot water with 550 illegal phone calls to 17 different recruits. At Indiana he was found guilty of 5 major infractions, excessive phone calls being one of them. He repeatedly lied to investigators and the program was a cesspool - drug abuse, players flunking out, etc.. In November 2008 the NCAA issued a five year "show cause" order on him, essentially banning him from coaching at an NCAA institution until 2014. He was hired by Chico's pal ii April 2014 as the head coach at University of Houston.
National reaction....good to see Aresco lauding praise as well. Worked with Mike for a number of years and losing Mack from that AAC will be a bit of a sting for them.

Absolutely. Had a good time on Facebook yesterday with all of us that used to work with Mack at MU....people that now are at the PGA, NCAA, pro sports, college sports, a former coach on Mike Deane's staff, etc. A bunch of people who no longer are at MU, but consider themselves to be MUers because of how they are connected to the university. Of course many people that still work at MU feel the same way. Once in the fold, always in the fold.
Besides, he's a Vikings fan....like you. Once a Vikings fan always a Vikings fan...so I hear.
