Title: could we score any points against UVa?
Post by: bamamarquettefan on January 22, 2015, 11:59:32 PM
pretty uphill to make the tournament, but if we do I sure hope we avoid UVa. They held their third decent opponent of the year below 30 points - Georgia Tech, Harvard and the Rutgers team that beat Wisconsin.

With our offensive struggles, I would hate to see that game. Defense is unreal.

At this stage they look like a 1-seed and we'd be hoping to sneak in as a 12-seed, so no opening round matchup.

Seriously? The only tourney we sneak into this year is the NIT.

I'd say based on Forecast RPI, we have a 9% chance at NCAA. Certainly a long shot, but when you are losing road games by a few points you can always hope for a run. Didn't believe we had much chance at NIT coming into this season, but hopefully that at least could happen.

That's probably why I am paying attention to some other teams like UVa. Washington Post quoted me on their rise this year.

And I thought it was 10.123456789 when we include sun spot activity.

Tournament?  Don't talk about Tornament? Are you kidding me. Tournament? I just hope we win another game. Tournament?

I always appreciate bama bringing the knowledge.  And we would score 3 points, carlino hits a crazy deep 3 going 1 for 24 on the night...

We already beat them in the pre-season scrimmage session, thus securing our NCAA bid. Sandy pwned Shayok.

No doubt we'd beat UVA. They have too big of a scoring disadvantage at point guard to seriously hope to win much this year.

Seriously?  We're going to be watching from home after the conclusion of the Big East tournament.  The guys are fighting hard, but you need talent at this level, and there's just not close to enough on this year's roster, and what talent is there is very raw still (Fischer, Du. Wil, and Cohen particularly).

And folks around here didn't want Bennett before Bumstead. Guessin' it woulda not mattered anyway. We can thank Cords for peein' down his father's leg after KO bolted, hey?

I think you can rest easy. There is a 0% chance MU will be playing UVA this season.

Hiring Bennett would have been a huge mistake.

I'd take my chances with a winner like Tony. Throw in a couple Final Fours for good measure too. I'm figurin' Tony ain't much interested in UW either.

Tony took a long time to get UVA to this level and still no final fours. Buzz got us farther than Tony has ever been. As for the last part, I haven't asked since Buzz left, but Tony was still very interested in UW at that point.

I dunno. But I did hear our scrimmage with them might hurt our line.

UVa plays the second slowest pace in all of basketball. Even if they win...

Also, I calculate that MU has a 2/3 chance of finishing with less than 50 points against UVA on a neutral court.

Somehow, UK got over it.
