Hi friends,
I want you to understand that Bluiett and Macura are two incredibly gifted offensive freshmen. Have logged many hours in gyms watching both of them - Bluiett not Mr. athleticism, but flat out scores. So gifted.

I think the line reflects the fact that Xavier is excellent offensively and can create big gaps in a score quickly.

we are market

One of my favorites. Nothing "cool" about it but it's effin good.

I'm starting the game w/a cherry coke zero, but will likely move to coffee at half.

Rough to hold the ball for a full minute, an out of control heave at the rim being the closest to scoring, and end the possession in a moving screen.

Can't complain about a nine point halftime lead on the road. We seem to force a ton of turnovers in the first half of games, then teams clean it up in the second half.   Rebounding will have to improve.

I would really like to get JJJ back into this.  That said Sandy Cohen is solid and could really develop into a great player.  Luke may not be filling up the stat sheet as much as he did in the first few games but I really, really like how he plays the game. Smart and controlled. When he has another big who can play on the floor with him he is going to be even more fun to watch than he already is.

Respectfully, Luke needs to get MUCH better.  He needs to handle the ball better, avoid stupid fouls and be much stronger on the boards.  I'll anticipate a lot of work in the off-season and I think he'll be a beast next year.

It is always easier for the team that got drilled in the first half to come out strong.  There are clear things they need to adjust to and they can game plan for it.

The team that is up, basically can only say lets keep it up, which plays into the 2nd half game plan of Xavier.

I would have ran it for him.  Everyone looking at Carlino, get it to Sandy on some switches.  Have Derrick dribble handoff to Sandy...he dribble handoffs to Carlino.  The switch would leave Sandy wide open.

I'd take my chances there.

I would agree of course but Sandy was sitting on the bench!

Derrick couldn't even get him the ball. Unreal

Actually, Matt got the ball and missed the shot.

You're an idiot. Put on ignore.
That's right. Start the name calling. I call them as I see them. Carlino had no business taking that last shot. Now if you can't see that, ignore is good...I#@!t

Willie WTF?
Last year whenever anyone got hot, it would have been mandatory to do 26 passes and get 13 random paint touches per possession before they could shoot.  If you've ever played ball, you know when you're hot, you want the ball, and you know you have a better chance of making a basket than anyone else.  A good coach rides that, a bad coach coaches it out.  Carlino kept MU in this game.  Single handedly, because no-one else is capable of stepping up.

I would have liked to see a better play at the end, but with 7 guys and our talent level, keeping it close was an achievement.

What do you think is the root cause for that trend ?

We all know the root cause. But it's a glaring problem that needs to have something be done. If that means throwing in the two 6'5 walk on's and having them throw the ball around for 33 seconds on a shot clock, so be it.

Not on the initially chance. He bobbled it and went closer to the corner and forced Matt into a shot going to his right.

Did you bother watching?

Didn't expect to win at Xavier but the first 20 minutes had me getting greedy......another reminder yah gotta play all 40, 3's are an equalizer in hoops, love the effort but gotta figure out these funky No-O stretches that appear every 2nd half

As long as JuJuan learned his lesson, this defeat is a victory in my book.

Could be short bench.  We were not nearly as aggressive on defense in the second half as we were in the first.

Today it was Xavier realizing they could go small and we wouldn't hurt them.  The extra ball handler negated our pressure defense.  Foul trouble hurt us for the first time this year.

Good strategy willie.  Don't go to your best shooter (and the guy who hit the winner three days ago).  Send Wojo a memo....

Yes I watched, and as I said, he DID get him the ball.  You said he didn't.

Nope Matt basically had to come and get it himself. Which in effect took out the rhythm of the shot.

Not why we lost, but pretty sad we could run a play properly

Well, guess we have to wait to hear what the scoop is on JJJ but I don't see a reason he couldn't have at least logged a few minutes in the second half when the defense was giving up wide open three after wide open three.

That's 2 games where MU has only gone 7 deep in big east play. Both times they collapsed in the second half and blew a double digit lead. Just hope JJJ isn't in the doghouse. #8strong

After a loss like this, I always think to myself, "Thanks, Buzz."

Put another shooter in there and use Carlino as a decoy.

That is your strategy. Have him take an off balance 3, 23 feet from the basket with 3 guys on him, and two guys open? You send Wojo the memo, because that was a terrible play. When everybody knows Carlino will shoot, it is time to get the ball to an open guy. That is good strategy. Did you ever hear of it? Instead of mocking me, use your valuable expertise to send Wojo a memo with all of it contained in there. Crickets!

I didn't criticize the play.  We ran what we had to run and it didn't work.
