Talks about marquette, Wojo, playing style, Wally, Luke and Steve Taylor

INTERVIEW WITH MU RECRUIT HENRY ELLENSON
John Dodds
I interviewed Henry Ellenson after his Rice Lake team lost to Tosa West 43-42 in Mark Miller’s Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Shootout Tournament.

Actually, I just searched it and it is freely available outside of any premium board. Now go have a cream soda and chill  :D.

Here's the link

It's a free link, but I'm gonna err on the side of sending traffic to Dodds .. removed the copy/paste of the article .. clink the link instead.

Is Dodds like a crazy guy who's super protective of his board or something?

This interview was supposed to have been longer but Ellenson made some cracks about Crean and so Dodds banned him...

He is, but that doesn't mean his pay wall content shouldn't be protected. This, however, doesn't seem to be behind the wall, especially if someone like me (banned on his board for agreeing with him) can see it.

"We had open shots. We just couldn't hit them."

Henry could have been talking about Marquette in several games this season! I hope he won't be saying that too often next year!!

Can someone tell me the nescesity of these premium boards, I mean any news that's even remotely important will be discovered by anyone. I just see what you're paying for with these boards esspically for a small market team like MU.

I have wondered this same thing, but never enough to pry open my wallet.

It's simple, Johnny. You pay for the privilege of reading ill-informed speculation from a group poseurs and charlatans promising keen insight. In effect, you get Scoop with an invoice.

Dodds watches over his board like the Coast Guard watches the Gulf of Mexico..... One negative remark or don't agree with his way and your gone.. 86'ed

Does it bother anyone else that Dodds calls it a "box in 1" defense rather than a box and 1?

I noticed that too.  I think later Henry called it a box and 1.

There is a ton of stuff I've read on the premium boards that never goes public. I've also learned a lot on them long before it goes public. It depends on the board and the people providing the content, but there are sites with value, even for a small market team.

Not to mention its a nice filter to remove the over-the-top type posters after a loss, constant bickering between posters, self-promoting blowhards and posters that bombard us with large image files that no one cares about...

The internet filtered to make it easier for the elderly to consume.

A long time ago I told Dodd's that we'd gladly post links to his site.  However, he was unrelenting in the fact the his forum would be an internet dead end (no links out).

Apparently now he doesn't even let links in.  An internet island I guess.

That's a Scout policy.  If you post a link, it takes out the hotlink.

In all my time on Scoop, I've heard one good comment about Dodds.  Strotty called him a valuable mentor to him when he was getting started.

What did he teach him? How to alienate a readership??

It wasn't the policy when we had the conversation.  There were plenty of links to scoop that got removed by him (several hours after the fact) and got folks banned by him.  But I appreciate you trying to make it sound like it wasn't his decision.

I believe his policy is "don't use my site to promote your site which is a competitor to what I do"

Dodds has repeatedly said that Sciut requires him to have subscription content which includes his articles and premium board. As part of the subscription you also get access to Scout content such as national recruiting articles.

If you look at it as paying for a premium board it isn't worth the money but it has some value when you take in the interviews with coaches/players + access to Scout.  Unfortunately, many of the the "in the know" guys left to start their own sites which has reduced the value of the premium board to a Murph free zone and a paid ignore feature.

He does link to many external sites such as Mark Miller and il bullseye.

Ok, I said nothing different.

That's odd. MUScoop doesn't hold media credentials. Something both Mark and IL Bullseye compete with him for.

I wasn't aware of that.  And don't look at me as one to defend Dodds.  He's got skin as thick as tissue paper.

All this talk about people getting banned easily by that lunatic makes me feel a little left out!!

Hopefully we win tonight vs Gtown obviously.

But if we happen to lose, I've got something to look forward. Scout meltdown!!!

I know you can use the ignore button to hide someone, but is there a way to filter posts so that only people like keefe show up in my view of the board? He is in a comedic "zone" lately.

Freakin' awesome.
