Title: Sooo..... Providence tomorrow
Post by: MarquetteDano on January 02, 2015, 03:00:26 PM
I have seen them a couple of times this year.  I don't think they are as good as last year but they certainly haven't fallen too much.  Henton is their go-to guy now.  Dunn has picked up his game and improved quite a bit.

Interesting matchup is Desrosiers and Fischer.  More when we are on offense.  Desrosiers is a legit 7 footer and is a decent defensive player so does Providence still double team Fischer?  I would say 'yes'.  Though there may be places where they decide not to double Luke.

When we play man-to-man it will be interesting to see how we play Henton as their entire offense really goes through him.  They seem to sputter when he isn't playing well.

I think they have to throw some different looks at him defensively. Probably start with Juan on him, and adjust from there. If he settles into a rhythm, MU is in big trouble.

Good write-up here. Seems to be legitimate concern as to whether Desrosiers can match up with Fischer.

I just hope one of the big noggins tomorrow is coach Cooley hiding under a towel from the vicious bat.

They aren't a great 3 point shooting team and are much bigger ....I would expect to see alot of zone from MU tomorrow.

Between Dunn and Henton they have two legitimate BE POY candidates on their roster. Key is to neutralize Dunn. He makes everyone around him better but has glaring weaknesses with his poor shooting and affinity for turnovers. Shut him down and MU has a chance.

+1

Agree 100%. Their lineup is often: 6"3, 6"6, 6"7, 6"9, 7"0. Can you imagine two of Carlino, Duane, and Derrick trying to guard Henton and Lindsey in man to man? They'd shoot over them or just push past them in the post.

Does anyone expect us to beat Providence?

Vegas.  Line is Marquette -2.  You get an extra two points plus the lock that Marquette cannot win.  You are putting big money down I presume?   ;D

Nice call.
