Here's the BE Conference Poll. How Many Wins in the Big East not including BET? 18 games.
You have three days and poll will close before DePaul Game. You can change your vote in that time.
Note: Decided to not group wins as sometimes the groupings are problematic....so pick a number ;)
Reminder of Poll#1 before we started...total wins out of 30....we're 8-4 so those predictions would translate as stated.
25-30 - Sleep Walkin' - 5 (1.6%) 17-18 BE wins
20-24 - Dreamer - 82 (27%) 12-16
15-19 - Wide Awake - 191 (62.8%) 7-11
10-14 - Nappin' - 25 (8.2%) 2-6
0 - 9 - Nightmare - 1 (0.3%) 0-1
Total Voters: 304
I am personally more optimistic....I'm going for 11...is that too much to ask?
My money's on 10. Sweep DePaul and Creighton, lose both to Nova. Split the rest, crossing our fingers on Selection Sunday.
11 wins is a lock. A lock into the tourney that is.
I voted 11, but also realize that it could be much uglier. This team needs things to go veryyyyy smoothly for 11 wins to happen.

Yes still not understanding why that is a ? to so many people.
11 and we are stone cold locked no sweat.
10 is probably even good enough. Def not questionable NIT.
I am thinking we get 8 or 9 wins at this point. 11 still possible.
You're right about the ? next to 10 & 11....I've just been surprised every year by who is left out...so I gave the bottom rungs a ?.
Certainly the collective RPI for the BE is very good....and an 11-7 + 0-1BET = 19-12 should be good enough. Agreed.

I'm hoping we can also sweep Butler or Seton Hall to get us to 11 and lock in a bid.
changed 10 & 11 wording a bit. Good comments.
I look at it as 7-2 at home. 3-6 on the road. Plus 1-1 in BET. 19-13. Assumes Luke stays healthy ,JJJ continues on his upward progression and no other injuries .
13. Take it to the bank (high off the glass, as the clock expires).
I hope you all are right...but almost 70% think that we win 9 or more in conference play. I fear those are some serious cupcake colored glasses y'all are wearing. This team has proved it is going to be a lot more fun to watch than it seemed after the first few games but with these expectations I predict some people having serious meltdowns in a few weeks...Again, I hope I am wrong and y'all are right!

With everyone healthy, this team is good enough to get nine wins. The rest of the league is good but, like us, everyone has flaws...
- St. John's is prone to disorganized offense
- Xavier's "D" is a lot about Stainbrook making up for others getting burned and Luke can neutralize him
- Butler has trouble scoring during long stretches of games at times
- Seton Hall is good without Whitehead but beatable (could depend on when he gets back)
- Not convinced by Providence this year. I think we could win both games against them
- Creighton's D is like ours without Luke and without the turnovers
- DePaul is well, DePaul
I think we beat all of the above teams at home. And I think we beat Providence and/or DePaul at their place. That is already eight or nine wins and there are still four games versus Nova and Georgetown.
vote vote vote...............
I'm buying into this team. At the beginning of the season, I never would have believed after 12 games we are 8-4. Not going to underestimate their development and the game plans again.
If our assists continue to be high, and our four 3 point shooters (Matt, Cohen, JJJ, Du Wilson) continue to exceed our present estimates it will open up the inside for everyone.
Please stay Healthy......13

Love the optimism. Hope you are right but I would be shocked if this team wins AT Creighton, Butler and Xavier. Maybe one of those three but all three? That would be amazing.

Why does everyone discount Juan? He's shooting our highest percentage from 3 while shooting over 1 three per game. JJJ and Duane are under 30%

Not discounting him. The 4 listed have the 3 point shot as a major part of their games. That is why it will be important for them to get rolling. Carlino, JJJ and Duane will all take multiple a game.
Juan's % right now is awesome but he's not as crucial from the outside.

Those road wins are pushing it but let's
Hope anyways.
This number depends. If we stay healthy all season, I say the number is 11. If even one player gets hurt, that number drops depending on how early in the season the injury occurred. If we lose any player besides Sandy in our game at Depaul, I think we don't win another game all season. That's how thin of a wire we are walking on this season.

I agree in spirit (we could win at least 1 more :P....) ... but you are right. full game 7-man rotation, they would get tired. Also a smart coach can coach to draw fouls...Buzz did that. And already Fischer will be a target (in my opinion)...can you imagine a 6-man or 5-man game for the last 10minutes of the game.
Am I right in thinking it would be physically tough and we would wilt? Or am I underestimating the motor of these 19-20 yr old athletes?

Do you at least still see us winning that game at DePaul?
I picked 7. At some point, somebody is going to get hurt and miss a few games. If I knew for a stone cold lock that there would be no injuries during the entire conference season....11. But I don't believe we will be that fortunate.

Depends on how early in the game the injury happens.
We win at least 11 games. So no knows how to win and he hates to lose.

Final Bump for Poll...before MU starts its campaign.
Channeling my optimism and going with 12.
Does anyone wish to reconsider their vote?
I originally picked 10 wins, but would change it to five. I believe that Wojo being a first-year coach, having only eight in the rotation, Luke as the only big, Steve Taylor Jr.'s lack of improvement, Carlino's hot/cold shooting, and De. Wilson's overall continued lack of production at PG will hurt us in BE play. I am hopeful about continued PT and development for Du. Wilson and JJJ. I think Du. Wilson, JJJ and Luke play well together and should be together more often on the court. Definitely a transition year until next season.
It's a long season, but I am less optimistic after today's loss.
I'll stick with 7. Going in to the season, it was hard to pick a place we'd win on the road minus DePaul, and we just saw how that turned out. We'll steal a road win somewhere .. maybe 6-3 at home with luck. That's 7. Maybe 8.
That's a Wrap on this poll...Thoughts.
Not all of the votes were prior to DePaul loss so we have a couple of 1,2 win prediction outliers ::)
The 17 and 18 win guys...well bless your quixotic spirit.
Given the DePaul fiasco, guess we should minus 1 on this bell curve...
But I'm sticking with my 11...what's the point of being a fan without some type of irrational hope flowing through your veins ;D. Let the games begin...
