We can make threes. When was the last time we could say that.
We have some slashers
We have a big, maybe two.
We can play really good D, again, at times.
Teams won't want to play us.
Dickie loves us.
GO WARRIORS!!!!!
Who is our second big???
Cuz it certainly isn't STJR.
Something tells me Steve breaks out big on Wednesday v DePaul. Hometown crowd and all. 2000 relatives show up.
Steve will figure it out.
The team that can't close out.

You thought we should finis up 30 instead of 28?

Didn't you say Steve was going to break out during today's game too? I really want Steve to break out, but I'm getting impatient.

I think he meant on defense, closing out on a shooter.
Does Dickie really loves is?
Seems like he just talks up everyone when he does the game. Luke was a game changer, then Derrick etc...
He had us as 8th in conference at best lol
I like what I have seen from MU and Wojo. But most of the rest of the league looks better, too. MU's identity going forward is a cipher. One injury changes everything.

Yeah I am beginning to think that last year was not an aberration.

Yes I did. Hopefully, I was just off by a game. I think he busts out big in His home town.

Despite my enthusiasm, I fear you may be right.
The team is undefeated with Luke joining. Ok, other than ASU cupcakes, but still, I think we can play with the best. MU without Luke was able to hang in with Wisky, OSU and MSU (at least for a while).
As we enter conference play, Wojo needs to settle on a line up. It will get a lot more physical, the coaching and talent a lot better. MU cannot continue to rebound like they did today. The zone will be more exposed. Luke and Steve need to start with Juan...one of the Wilsons and either Carlino or JJJ. He cannot continue to cheat with three and four small guards in the line-up to try toprotect MU's lack of depth in the front court. Maybe in some games or situations but it is all in time.

Steve insisted he wasn't hurt last year and maybe he was past the pain of his injury but he wasn't the same player he'd been as a freshman. Still isn't.

Agree....need to favor rebounds over speed:
Base: Luke/Steve/Juan Add: JJJ/Duane/Carlino/Derrick as appropriate.
Never leave 4 guards for very long or no-Luke for very long.
Sandy use if fouls or everyone else cold. He's got to prove he does more than hit threes....which is great but Carlino does more than that.
Also: we are going to lose at least one game because of foul trouble (particularly Luke)...some team's going to figure that out.

Honestly I wonder if our recollections of his freshman year was framed by our expectations...or lack thereof. Because looking back on it statistically, and the game log, nothing spectacular stands out to me.

You are probably right - I just don't remember the missed bunnies and the fumbled passes from his freshman season.
Whereas #freestevetaylor was quite a thing two years ago, he was a freshman playing with no expectations, no responsibilities, no scouting reports. He had Juan, Jamil, Trent, Vander, CO, Davante all getting as many or more minutes. From time to time, with the right matchup, he would go in and have several good minutes. He was never a great defender and he was never consistent. Deonte was probably more consistent as a freshman. What has struck me is that STjr is not confident with the ball around the basket and isn't strong rebounding, which did seem to be two things he had going as a frosh.
Going forward, it is not possible for me to diagree more with a starting frontline of Steve, Luke, and Juan. If you want more size in the starting lineup, sub in JJJ for Carlino or Duane. 80 minutes split between S/L/J at the 4-5. Steve is just going to have to find his way.
