Title: Great interview with a dime-a-dozen point guard
Post by: tower912 on December 27, 2014, 03:43:14 PM
For those too young to remember, murf, the gr81 one, scourge of the scout board, constantly referred to Travis as a dime-a-dozen point guard.   Yeah, Mr. Glaser is not as smart as he thinks he is.

If there ever was a Scout meme contest, "dime a dozen" would be a formidable contender.  Its only real competition would be Listerine and ankle tape.

Amazing to think how funny a meme contest that has as contestants only Gr8one repetitions could be. If only he could see the humor in it.

On point (pun intended), good article.

He collected a paycheck in the NBA for six years, another four years in Italy.  Oh, and he was the starting PG in the FF in 2003.

So what exactly is his definition of dime a dozen?

In Murf's defense, he did make the comment after his freshmen season originally.  The problem is he never backed off of it and never admitted he was wrong.

There is no excuse. He is the only reason I will not look at that board.

It actually predates that.

He felt Crean shouldn't have held a scholarship for Diener while he toured other schools before making his college choice. In Murff's view, he should have just thrown the scholie out there to all potential PGs, and simply accepted the first to commit, as all PGs were a "dime a dozen".

No, I like JD. Always has good info.

Referring to Murf, or Gre8one, or whatever goofy name he likes to hide behind. He hijacks threads and makes them unreadable. Strange old fart.

not to mention his accomplishments at the national level, he is creating a nice legacy at the state level.  6-10 years ago or so, many of our most recent state b-ball players probably grew up watching travis evolve, showing these guys with hard work and toughness, we(wisconsin) produce winners.  i believe it's very possible for him to parlay that into a nice coaching career and continue to attract some of these top tier in-state players.  this could turn into a very astute move by wojo looking back.  talk about an ambassador to marquette and it's basketball program right here,  time will tell.  if these guys are a "dime-a-dozen", i'll take eleven more please...sh!t, let's go for the bakers dozen, I have a toothache so?
