Marquette's next 5 games are:
12/19 Home vs Alabama A&M (1-6) Their only win is against a non-D1 school.
12/22 Home vs North Dakota (3-6) Their only wins are against a non-D1 school, Alabama State (3-4) and Drake (2-8)
12/28 Home vs Morgan State (2-8) There is nothing of note to say here.
12/31 At Depaul (6-3). Notable win over Stanford at home. Losses to mediocre at best Ill. St. (5-3) and Lehigh (4-4). Typical DePaul team. very beatable, but we usually play pretty close in Chicago.
1/3 Home vs Providence (8-3). PC is decent, but very beatable in our house. They have a head-scratching loss to Brown (5-6) in Providence.
What do you guys think the odds are that we knock out the next 5 in a row for a 6 game win streak? I think we have a solid shot. Considering none of these teams are particularly good, other than maybe Providence, what is the perception of the team if we do pull it off and go into Georgetown at 10-4?
Yes, I know. The old cliches "one game at a time" "don't look past anybody" etc.
I'd say it's definitely attainable, but I put the most importance on the next three going into conference play. If we take care of business against mediocre teams at home (ie double digit victories) and get some consistency and chemistry between Luke, Duane, and co. look out!
...At least that's the plan, right? I hope?
This really makes me wish our cupcakes had been reversed. On paper, Tennessee-Martin, NJIT, and Omaha were our 3 toughest buy opponents. Would like our odds much more of seeing them now.
On topic, though, it's certainly possible. 4 in a row seems like a lock, but it's at DePaul where we'll really start to learn how good we are. Is it sad that the Blue Demons are a measuring stick?
No BEast game is a lock this season. But yes, we do have a good shot to rattle off six in a row *knock on wood*
I had said in another thread that we'd learn about ourselves by January 1. Go 3-2 vs. 5(or 6)-0 and we'll know. I like our chances.
If I was a betting man, I would say we will go 5-1. If Fischer plays the next six like he did vs. ASU then 6-0 is definitely in the cards.
I just have this feeling that either against DePaul or Prov he plays poorly or gets into foul trouble and we drop one of those.
We have to win the next three easily and avoid any injuries. I think we would be favored at DePaul and at home against PC, but I'm guessing they like their chances against us too.
Agree with TAMU that no BE team is a lock. Yet every BE team--even Nova--is beatable if MU plays tight D, keeps errors to a minimum and Luke is Luke we just witnessed.
With this team I can only really consider one game at a time and hope to get through without an injury .

Fischer does not have to play as well, but we need to make more than one three and shoot better from frree throw line.
No don't get me wrong we may end up a very poor 6-12 in conference. I don't know.
But really only 1 team scares me and that is Nova. I'm basically chalking up 2 losses right there
Other than that we can compete with everyone. Obviously majority of the other teams are all going to be tough to beat on the road...but it is doable.
Some of the best MU teams of the past 10 years have really struggled at DePaul. I'd say we should look no further ahead than a date with the Blue Demons.
