Title: How many transfers will we have after the season
Post by: Wojo'sMojo on December 06, 2014, 06:42:30 PM
I would say that Dawson is gone for sure. I also think JJJ and Deonte are going to leave for different reasons. I think JJJ will try and get a fresh start somewhere else. Also, Deonte's game doesn't really mesh with what Wojo is trying to do and though he is from MKE, will look to move on. I could see us being in the same boat next year with a short handed team because of defections.

I don't see Deonte transferring, but I agree he definitely is struggling in Wojo's system right now. JJJ?  Don't think he will either as he is getting ample opportunity to show what he can do.  Dawson?  Highly likely. What other message could he be getting from Wojo?!!  Hey all these other guys in front of you are having their struggles but I don't think enough of you to even give you a chance to play any meaningful minutes and show what you can do in a game...Dawson will end up being like DJ Newbill - he'll have a nice career elsewhere and the same guys who tried to prop Buzz up on the Newbill deal will diminish Dawson's accomplishments elsewhere just as they've done with DJ.

You are that guy in the group of your friends when you go to the can,  they roll their eyes,  and are like,  good God,  what is his deal,  did he have to come...

Honestly,  sorry I'm the one to break to you.

Why? Man, some of you people are like cranes. Stick your head in the sand and ignore what's going on. I think its a legitimate topic and worth discussing. I think our lineup next year will be

Duane
Nick
Cohen
Ellenson
Fischer

Cheatham, Wally, Heldt, and Taylor off the bench. Maybe add another piece or two hopefully. I don't want anyone to transfer, I'm just speculating on what I think is going to happen. This gives Wojo more of what I think he's looking for.

Don't speculate on transfers.

None of the sophomores seem to have the hoops IQ that Wojo wants. Wouldn't be surprised at all if there were transfers.

I agree. They seem to be more undisciplined than Wojo prefers and don't seem to fit his style/system.

There isn't a player in America who wouldn't want to stay and play for a coach that can't score 40 points a game at home!!!  They'd be crazy to go to another program and coach that would utilize their skills, would let them play in front of inferior players and who's motto is "Win Every Day" except when playing "Big" 10 teams.

So please no more "absurd" posts!!!

duane, you clearly have issues with wojo.   Without vitriol, hyperbole or bitterness, please logically and calmly make your case.

Do you really have a college degree? How many players on this team did the current coach recruit? One. The guy who happens to be our best scorer.

Just hit ignore and don't comment. It's really not that complicated, you don't like the topic, don't comment in it.

Unfortunately people quote those on ignore, making it useless.

Really rocky, are you proud of the crap posted on this board? I've seen 5 year old with more maturity than some folks here.

What are you whining about? It's a legit question to ponder. No disparaging remarks have been made and its a valid topic.

I don't think the transfer talk should be taboo as there are 500 or so a year now. It's not necessarily a bad thing for guys to transfer anymore. I think John will have a hard time finding minutes in his next two years here. Derrick's and carlino's minutes are opening up obviously so there are some vacancies at guard. Duane will play heavy minutes and it's to be determined how ready Nick N and Cheathum will be. I think since it's Wojo's guys coming in next year he will be more inclined to play them and give them the opportunities. I could see John wanting to move closer to home to get some heavy minutes his last two years. Nothing wrong with spending time at a high major for a few years and then playing a lot for a local school the last two years. I do hope Dawson stays as I like his size and the fact that he can play both guard spots.

Deonte has had a tough year for various reasons. I don't think he has fit in well to Wojo's style thus far. Let's give them some more time to establish roles before writing denote off. I think he's our best offensive player. I think wojo finds him a role on this team.

Dawson will end up being like DJ Newbill

I've got 500 says he won't be drafted either :)

Ok, true, current players excluding Carlino were not recruited by Wojo, but why not ask this question:
If they were going to transfer, why even stick around this season?
The team is learning.  Maybe the players feel they are learning and improving under Wojo's leadership and enjoy playing for Marquette.  Although they may not have been recruited by Wojo it does not mean they can not learn his system and how he wants them to play.

Well you clearly appear on your way to a win on the playing time wager - though we did have an injury clause I think I failed to protect with a transfer clause. Never would have seen that coming!

Newbill is looking good. Think he'll ultimately get drafted and cause a push. I won't bet on Dawson yet.  Far too little game data to evaluate. But I am very confident John will have a nice college playing career somewhere.  Hope he transfers so he can go to a program/coach that definitely wants him. It's clear Wojo doesn't and that's Wojo's call. Albeit I believe it will ultimately be proven to be the wrong call.

It's really unfair to the players to speculate on a message board which ones will transfer.  We're 8 games into the season for Pete's sake!  What if JJJ or Burton or Dawson or whoever has a great final 22 games?  Pretty silly to have suggested that they transfer after 8 games.

I'm not naïve.  I know transfers happen.  History shows MU will probably have one or more this year. But naming names on a message board is inappropriate.  If you do it in a private conversation, I don't have a problem with it.  But the internet is out there for all to see, including players.  Would you take out a billboard saying "Player X should transfer"?  I don't think so.  So show some respect for the players, their parents, and their friends who read the message boards by not naming players who you think should or might transfer.

Nobody said any player should transfer or that we want them to transfer. It's the current times of college athletics and one that isn't disrespectful at all. Certainly no worse than people saying such and such player flat out sucks, which I have seen on here a couple of times today.

To say I totally disagree is an understatement.

This is a Marquette fan board. Nobody attacked the players. It's just a bunch of fans speculating. That's what these Web sites are for.

I happen to think most of this speculation is quite premature, but it's America and it's a fan board and I strongly defend others' rights to speculate.

You don't like it, take a hike and go to other fan boards where nobody ever speculates about the future.
