Title: Wojo 12/4
Post by: tower912 on December 04, 2014, 06:29:34 PM
I came in at the first commercial break.
What was UNC/Duke really like?   Duke/UNC stands with any rivalry.   Amazing intensity.   8 miles apart.   Similar to what he is finding with MU/Wisconsin.    Glad to be part of 2 of the best rivalries.   It is an honor to be part of a game like this.  MU/UW.  Kids dream of playing in a game like this.   Two great programs, great pride.   Rivalry has stood the test of time, across eras/coaches.
Challenge against this UW team:   One of the top 3 teams in the country right now.   Size, experience, skill.  Return most of team from final 4.   Size couple with skill.    MU will have hands full.   Kids are excited.
What have you learned about your team?    Team is fighters.   Can play extremely hard.   Played harder than any team in Orlando.   Effort/energy must be a staple while we clean up execution.
When a player is hot:   You wanna get him the ball.   We were able to get Carlino and our players were unselfish.
Carlino's strengths:   Knack for scoring.   best when playing with a swagger.   Played poorly prior to GT.   Had a meeting and he came out firing.
Duane has really been coming on as a player.   Likes a big stage.    Timing was as important as number of points.     When he has his feet set, he can really shoot.   More of a scorer than a shooter, can hurt you in multiple ways.
Zone rebounding:  Need to get better.   In a zone, not as clear responsibilities.   Thought we were scrappy in Orlando.   Rebounded as a team.   Figure out ways for all 5 guys to rebound.   Derrick Wilson did the best job rebounding of any perimeter guy in Orlando.
Derrick and Duane took us home against UT.   Scoring, senior leadership.   Several guys can step up.   Doing a good job of taking care of the ball.   Few live-ball turnovers.   Multiple passes result in a field goal.   For a team with no established players, offense has been ahead of the defense.

Jabari and Travis after the break.

Jabari keeps saying that Wojo could beat him at horse.   Enjoying watching his old friend Steve Taylor play.

Diener:    Rivalry underplayed nationally.    It was big to go .500 against Wiscy in his career.    Out of HS, it was down to MU and Wiscy for him.
Bo Ryan team:   Swing, which has evolved over the years.    Adjusts to his talent, which he has lots of this year.   He let Devin Harris do more than some others.   Fundamentally sound, tremendous size.
MU so far:   We're improving.   So much better than we were two weeks ago.   Guys are working really hard, competing.   Hope to be peaking by conference season.
Wojo on Travis:   Can't think of anyone who represents MU hoops as Wojo wants it to be than Travis.   A terrific addition, asset.    Wish we could suit him up on Saturday.   Hopefully, the guys take on Travis' demeanor against Wiscy.

Had a lot of good things to say about Luke Fisher.

Hopefully he can teach his old friend how to rebound.

YES!!!!! I hope so too.... If he passed 20% of his game to Steve he would be the best player on the team.
