What I take away is that since MU basketball was coached by a UW alum in the 30s and 40s and MU BBall didn't start to take form till 1955 I think the 40s and 30s should get thrown out.
What I take away is that MU needs to do a better job of beating UW. Playing them even is not good enough.
That's great, thanks for sharing. Now I know why my dad, a UW alum, hated Al so much. 20-4! Wow.
Its all right. Itll be all tied up once Wojo goes 10-0 over the next 10 years.
Does basketball pre1950 really count? Add far as I'm concerned, we own the series with the vadgers.
This year is probably a loss but we should dominate them in Madison the following year
I'd like to compare it just on years where we both make the post season or ncaa tournament. Obviously a year like this we expect a loss so it's not nearly as fun of a game as like 11-12 or 08-09 or 12-13 when we're both good.

Al was the man, and of course deserved the disdain from UW fans. Sure hope the Wojo regime can find ways to improve our overall win % against Bucky.

The Badgers would say so, as they have a 1941 NCAA Tournament "Championship," which was its 3rd year with an 8 team field.

And every true athlete was off to war.

How dare you belittle Bo Ryan's accomplishments!
Anyone have the current point spread on the game?

It counts. I don't need anyone 30 years from now belittling Marquette's championship.

Uhhh.... You may want to brush up on your timelines. While a limited draft was in place at the time, this was pre-Pearl Harbor.

Haven't found one yet, but did find some interesting numbers comparison. Per game, Bucky is beating us in points scored, points allowed, FG%, FT%, 3-pointers made, and defensive rebounds. We hold the edge in steals and, oddly enough, offensive rebounds. Go figure.

Wojo will have delivered several more by then, so it won't matter ;-)

Guess you are saying the number of 18 to 22 years by March 1941 in the military had not grown by leaps and bounds? Though I will give you that university enrollment was about even from 1936-1940.

I am not a military historian, but the vast majority of men who went "off to war" did so after Pearl Harbor in December 1941.
Interestingly the NCAA tournament was still held every year during the war.
Looks like Bucky is a 10 point favorite from what I could find.
Wonder what those Madison smart a--es are saying about tonights Big Ten Championship Football Game.
Embarrassing. I would think twice about saying ON WISCONSIN.
Litehouse, the line opened at around 9, but by game time it was Wisc -12.5. So MU covered!
The fact that it's split since Crean makes this rivalry intense.
No way should the state flagship school get evened by a small Jesuit school!
