Title: Wojo's Hand
Post by: PistolPete on November 30, 2014, 05:30:09 PM
Wojo just told Homer & Mac that he got overaggressive and put his hand through a whiteboard. Said the scrapes came from pulling it out.

PASSION REVEALED.

C'mon man, if there's one thing Bert did right, it was that.

Wait so our coach did the meathead punch an inanimate object routine? Haha whatever works for ya Wojo.

Better his hand than his head.

No, the one thing he did right was walking through the door that he was shown.

That was awesome, even if unintentional. Never liked WVU and was overjoyed to see them so salty. That and the DJO walk it out.

I don't know about Wojo's hand but you gotta hand it to Wojo for the team's recent success

Maybe that is why MU had its first floor slap of the year.   Also, did anyone else notice Wojo jumping around after a couple of the made 3's in the second half?

Not sure how to feel about that, did like him going after Juan. I'd imagine those two personalities clash a lot.

They were certainly jawing at each other and Steve pulled and led Juan away.    Two competitive guys, the heat of the moment and I have little doubt that they have discussed it since and it is resolved.

Looked like Al and Bernard Toone going at it.

Yep.  Or Al and Lloyd Walton.

At least it wasn't Al and Dave Delsman

Anyone have the clip of Crean getting into a fight with the door in his first year at Indiana? I believe he had just gotten ejected against Wisconsin. Any topic of a past or present MU coach in a fight with an inanimate object should include that gem.

I heard Gary Brell stooped by with his switchblade, and helped Wojo understand the meaning of Warrior tough.

Loved the Morgantown polka from Buzz.    Love that Wojo is so wound up that he punches whiteboards during the pregame.   Doesn't even bother me that Wojo and Juan were clearly pissed at each other.   Cooler heads prevailed and MU played somewhat  ;D better afterwards.

I remember watching the dance at a bar on the East Side and spitting my beer out from laughing so hard.

It was the perfect action for that moment by the coach.

That timeout where he and Juan went at it completely changed the game for Marquette.

There's a reason Buzz clashed a lot with several of the guys last year. They need a lot to get to the right level of intensity and focus. Wojo is trying to set the standard from the bench. Looks like they've finally started buying in.

Posted this in another thread re TN game that is hopelessly lost on bickering again, so re-posting it here in case it adds any value.

Just filling in some more details on the post game comments, but admittedly its all fluff:

1. Wojo's hand injury was more from extracting hand from the wipe-board (sounded like Wojo was calling it a "wipe-it board") than the actual punching through the board.  Point he was trying to express was how they had to fight "human nature" which was to let their guard down after three games in four days (fourth game in seven days) and didn't want to see that happen... knew they needed 100% and were not just playing a great TN team, but fighting their own human nature to let their guard down.  Wojo's response to injury, just a "flesh wound".
2. Jim Mc. said "rumer had it" that Kevin O. punched a locker in Illinois when he was coaching and broke his hand, but refused to have it cast because he did not want to give the players the satisfaction of knowing he broke his hand.  Wojo's response was he thinks he drinks a little more milk than Kevin did.  Ha!  Great line.
3. Derick brings it every day and is a great player to coach and a great teammate.
4. MU is leaving this tournament a MUCH better team than it was when it arrived, which is what everyone is looking for and great to see.  Is very happy about that and felt no one played harder than MU at this tournament. Playing your butt off is what Wojo expects and what is needed.

Better than punching a wall like Diener supposedly did his senior year, breaking his hand and forcing us all to watch Marcus Jackson bring the ball up the court against Western Michigan.

Floor slaps and board punches! I love our new coach.
