I have a hard time believing that Thabeet will beat out McNeal for Defensive Player of the Year.
You must be one of the few remaining subscribers to The Sporting News. Not that there's anything wrong with it.
1- they must not realize that the BE has a 10 person first team? 2- its extremely unprecedented for a guard to get defensive player of the year, let alone twice. also, mcneal gets the most steals, but DJ has been better defensively than him. Yes i am saying DJ is the better defender right now, despite the height disadvantage. 3-wes is definitely versatile. 4- if there was a 5 man all BE, if jerel got it over DJ it would be a robbery, cause if they take the same number of shots DJ will average more pts, have more assists, turn the ball over less, and play just as good defense.
PS. i love jerel
A big miss that stood out to mein the TSN article is that they had DePaul 8th and Providence 9th in the BE. DePaul is young and won't be very good--especially on the road with the extended BE schedule. The Friars are a potential Top 20 team, top 3-5 BE, NCAA bound who manhandled #17 Ark. yesterday. They are going to be a tough BE opener for us at home after the xmas break.
Interesting All-Conference choices. Earl Clark isn't even the best player on his own team (T Williams). He may not even be the second best player on his own team (Padgett). Paul Harris? Harangody? Over the likes of Reynolds, DJ, Devendorf? I'm afraid not.
