Do students now have to show an MU ID on top of their Fanatic tickets to get into the student section. I thought I heard that somewhere, and was just curious...
I had heard that rumor too going into the season, but they have not required students to do so yet as far as I know. I imagine it would be a huge hassle to do so as well.
I haven't heard anything about it, but my guess is if they enforced it at all, it would only be in very highly attended games where too many students were trying to pack the lower bowl (ND, Lville, Pitt) or the UWM game if a ton of their students tried to get into the student section.
Last season they required student IDs to get into the student section for both the UW-Madison and Pitt games. Otherwise, no. My guess is that it'll be same deal this season, with IDs being required for games like Georgetown and Louisville (and maybe ND and Pitt).
they have always threatened....but i have never seen it or been asked
They have never "carded" me to get into the student section... not even for the Madison game
The only time I ever saw someone get carded was for the UW game - they were wearing a Tucker jersey under their jacket, and when they took it off the entire section singled him out. The usher then checked his ID.
How would that work if you forwarded your ticket to someone else then?
While they did say a student ID was required last year for the Madison game they were never checked.
The whole reason behind it is if someone from another school is starting trouble in the student section they will ask them for an ID and when they don't have one be forced to leave.
If you want to go to the game with a friend from another school it shouldn't be a problem if he has no id as long as he isn't starting trouble.
Not necessarily true. I had a friend from DC (alum, one year out) fly in for the Pitt game and he was carded at the door along with about 400 of us towards the front of the line (no pitt fans in sight). We ended up getting him into our section, but it took some serious sucking-up to the head of security.
They do use the ID check for major games towards the front of the line.
Yeah that's true. I think that was just because of the whole gameday day long event.

When you forward tickets, the name on the tickets switch if you do it directly though gomarquette.com. there is a prompt that asks the name of the person you are forwarding them to. I do, however, think they are just looking for MU id's opposed to making sure the name on the ticket matches the name on the ID.
