This feels like the perfect time and place to make a too-early prediction based on one exhibition game - Juan Anderson could make the biggest year-over-year leap of any player.
As we learned with Wes Matthews, sometimes a change in personality/play style can make a role player a really good player. Juan has always had talent, just hasn't put the whole thing together. It looks like he's made tremendous strides in his confidence and body/athleticism (dude looks like a man compared to last year).
Hopefully it's a juanderful year.
I think you might be looking too much into the results of just juan exhibition game.
I thought Juan would have a decent year last year.
I was wrong.
With this said, I'll still stick to what I've said about Juan for a couple of years:
Juan isn't particularity weak in any area, but he's not good in any area either. He's pretty much average at everything.
So, it would not be shocking if Juan advanced in a specific area, that his effectiveness could jump exponentially. If Juan could suddenly shoot 35% from 3pt, he could actually be a really good player because the rest of his game is already average or better.
He's well rounded, but he needs to find a couple of things he can be really good at. It might even be as simple as a specific couple of moves on offense.
Could Juan be Trent Lockett?

This is a very good analysis of the situation. I believe the coaching staff is trying to help him develop along the lines you suggest.

Why would he Juan to be?
These kind of comments are offensive; I won't stand for them and no Juan else should either. Jajuan offensive dude, Keefe.
Before the game tipped off my friend made a very bold prediction that Juan would be Marquette's leading scorer this year. Obviously it's Wisconsin Lutheran, but I gotta say I can actually see that be the case. Most important Stat for me? 1-2 from 3 and 4-5 from the free throw line.
If Juan has indeed improved to such a degree, I can't wait to see the one-on-juan mismatches during conference play this year.

The only problem with my theory is that it requires a player who has never excelled at any specific skill to suddenly excel at a specific skill.
Not unheard of (guys do improve), but I don't know how likely that is either.
Derrick is in the same boat.
Well WE all Juan him to have an outstanding year. I'm sure he juan to also
I think this calls for another screen name change.

After last night you might want a new profile pic too ;D
We have all been waiting for Juan to take off. Hopefully this is the year!

I changed it in honor of last nights game. Haters gonna hate.
Juan-ce in a lifetime game. I have had high expectation for him since he arrived. If he has suddenly found his jump shot, then he will have a good year. But, remember, it was a lay up drill against WL.
He will NOT be our leading scorer.
Anyjuan juana bet?
I think Juan will have a good year. However, during the regular season he will be competing against taller players, so he will not have the advantages he had against Wisconsin Lutheran. I expecting 9pts & 6 rebound average for the year.
The man played jaunderfully on Saturday, leaving everything he had on the court. His juan, haggard appearance was mute testament to the nobility of effort.

Well stated. Juan reminds me a bit of Todd Townsend. He's long, lean and athletic but doesn't really have that one part of his game that you know he's going to bring consistently every night.
Maybe Wojo has a magic juan.

That's a good comp.
I was friends with some of the managers back then, and they said Todd would have been a lot better, but was battling 2 bad shoulder injuries for his last 2 seasons. He was still a good role player, but they said it really limited him.
I bet we get to here Homer say this at least once: JaJuan to Juan (scores and is fouled) and one and one. Or vice-versa.
This is a dumb topic -- we haven't even juan a game.

I juana say he has a better chance of being the next Lockett than he has of being the next Wes Matthews.
By his senior season, Wes already had established himself as a double-digit scorer who was good at pretty much everything, and then he really broke loose to become a stud.
Juan ... well, he has had one good exhibition game.

If he is our leading scorer this year, I, for juan, would be as surprised as if he were charged with burglary and arson.
hmmmm.... Mama Juana..... ;) some people might know what this is....lol

It's a juander he hasn't read scoop. Juan might find it off-putting when people take these offseason threads juan step too far.
