1. Wisconsin Lutheran is not good.
2. First half was horrible shooting
3. Foul trouble is going to be an issue this year.
4. The sophomores (and RS freshman) woke up in the second half.
5. Cohen was amazingly good. Yeah, it is WL, but can I have a show of hands that would have predicted he would go for double digits.
6. The percentage of 3 pt shots made off of paint touches versus those made off of the dribble is notable.
7. Thank goodness it was only a cramp for Juan.
8. Wojo's version of slowing things down is pulling off the press in the second half.
9. Prayers up for Dish and his family.
Good warm up for the season. Allows them to play as a unit. I don't take to much from it, but I am not the coach. Wojo and his staff I am sure see many things to improve/work on.
Free throw shooting is much improved.
Duane Wilson can go from 0 to 100...... Real Quick.....
Bane is Bane!
Marquette will be fun to watch this year......

Hard to take a ton from the game, but the pressure D in the first half was fairly impressive and then the second half overall was pretty solid.
Couldn't hit anything outside in the first, but final stats were good: 55% FG, 83% FT, 35% 3PT, 26 assists, 24 steals
Definitely a positive to get all of the "new" guys a run and score...
Nice to see Sandy hit some threes and score 14.
Duane had a great second half.
Juan's problem last year was finishing around the hoop, so the 27 should be a confidence builder.
Burton with some nasty dunks and nice moves. This game didn't really do much for him.
this could be a resume building sign!!!
Carlino has male pattern baldness.

Carlino has male pattern baldness.
Great take away from the game.
Hard to take anything away from this game as WLC was that bad that we were able to do whatever we wanted. I do like that we are going to apply pressure defense all over the court, and even just like the change of the half court defense in playing physical, aggressive defense and making the offense start further away from the basket. I also like that we actually run some set offensive plays. That created a lot of open looks. They won't come that easy against more physically capable teams, but the biggest problem we had last year was Buzz didn't run set plays and we didn't have players who could create shots. We still don't have the players to just create shots, but with Wojo we'll actually run set plays to create some open opportunities. Shots will start to fall.
Missed the game. Just catching up with the box score. Blown away to see Juan with 27. Can anyone describe who was playing point? Or did it move around a bunch as we expected?
- Carlino was all over the place on defense. He has very active hands.
- I liked the offense. It looked like there was a lot more movement than we've seen recently. As someone we sat by mentioned, Derrick could be good in a flow of the offense. Standing and dribbling at the top last year doesn't fit to his strengths
- I liked the pressure defense. We will be at risk for foul trouble and disciplined teams like Georgetown and Wisconsin with it. I'm glad we won't just pack it in and hope teams don't shoot well.
- We had some trouble finishing around the hoop, but was encouraging to see us hit shots in the second half. I have to think the smaller team makes it tougher to finish around the basket. No resistance and causing us to over-muscle some layups.
- Duane looked really good at the end
Well, NCMUfan, it's tough to take much of anything from this 'game.' WL was beyond awful.

Neither of our comments were supposed to be taken seriously.

Great take away from the game.
Carlino has like 8 years of college basketball experience. So thats where the baldness kicks in.
We did what we were supposed to do. Steve had the most rebounds, Carlino the most assists, and a bunch of other guys scored double digits. I liked what I saw. The defense was decent, we made some unnecessary turnovers but being the first games with nerves high it'd not unexpected.
Is 115 points a record?

No, 118 points vs. UWM back in 1969.
I also don't think it would count as it was an exhibition.

Homer kept talking about Juan's career high... don't think this would count for that either. He had four double-digit games in the non-con and then a high of 6 in the conference season. Probably a combo of better competition and losing his confidence. He still was a high energy guy and getting boards, but had so many issues finishing and shooting. So today was a good sign.
Layup and dunk practice pretty much summarizes this effort. Second half was much better...nine first half turnovers turned into only two in the 2nd. 1-11 trey shooting turned into 6-9 in the 2nd. Twenty four steals was ridiculous and pointed out the talent gap with the full court press...which frankly, left a lot of gaps that D1 teams will exploit.
What I took away today: MU will press, the starting five is not the best offensive line up (like last year, I got leg cramps waiting for the first hoop so I could finally sit down), and Wojo headed toward the wrong locker room at halftime
Much more good than bad came out of the team's performance today and no one got injured. Now let's see how we do against UTM.

Wow--that longevity stat approaches Otule's 20 years of eligibility standard.
Career high? Record amount of points? They didn't even play a game! It was an exhibition.

Homer is clueless when it comes to MU basketball. All he has on his mind is Rodgers...Pack...Rodgers...Pack...and keeps repeating.
