Is anyone else having issues with the stream?  It's not even watchable with sound.

Stream isn't bad.   11-2 at the first media TO.   Only one basket in the half court set, a drive by Deonte from the foul line.   Everything else off of turnovers.    JJJ with 4 pts, and an overplay leading to an easy lay up for WLuth's only points.

2 fouls on Steve Taylor at the 11:05 mark.   No worries against WLuth, but not a good omen.

LOL. As he was running onto the court before the game,  The Chicken tripped over his own feet, took a tumble,  and his head fell off.

This is why exhibition games are important.  He won't make that mistake again.

Let's hope Deonte doesn't get himself in the doghouse early. He needs to be our best player.

Lots of energy, lots of aggressiveness, higher tempo.   Wisconsin Lutheran is brutally bad.   Outside shooting still not great.    Young guys willing to take 3's at any time.    Not making them yet.   Derrick's FT shooting is better, but not his 3 pt shooting.
Title: Re: Whiskey-Lute game thread

Thank God the season is here, so we (and I include myself in that) can make judgments like that based on 4 FT's and 1 3PT, instead of secondhand reports about practices.

MU is looking gassed already.    Lots of one pass, catch and shoot possessions.   Lots of trying to make the pick up game play and not the smart play.

Going to be a tough year to watch. Don't want to overreact, but this is a D3 team. 32% shooting? Yikes.

Derrick, Deonte, Juan and STJ will be solid. Carlino streaky. Cohen looks extremely promising. Everyone else still shaking out the jitters. The only player that looks truly lost/overmatched is Duane Wilson.

PRACTICE SHOOTING!!
Title: Re: Whiskey-Lute game thread
Post by: tower912 on November 08, 2014, 01:58:43 PM
The least impressive 28 pt halftime lead ever.   2 made jumpers.   A three for Burton, a 16 ft elbow jumper for Carlino.     Everything else lay ups, mostly off of transition.
High's:   Cohen.   Juan being aggressive around the rack.   Taylor's defensive rebounding.   Aggressive defensive pressure.   Faster tempo.
Low's:   Poor shooting.   Sloppy with the ball.   Too many 1-pass-and-a-long-jumper possessions.

Wisconsin Lutheran is terrible.    I have seen nothing in the first half that makes me feel better.

Sipping on a new brand for me. Bulleit Bourbon. Not bad.

Just opened a Total Wine in town.  The selection is immense.

One early observation. I doubt we'll see Wojo sweat through his jacket, spent a lot of time sitting on the bench. Only got up when needed.

I gotta say, after having Crean's sideline pacing, and Buzz's sideline antics, it is so weird to see our coach being relaxed and sitting on the bench. Not a criticism on Wojo... just different.

I thought Juan looked really good in pre-season last year and then disappeared last year.   Hopefully this is his year.

The radio broadcast is sure quieter without Buzz constantly yelling in the backgorund like he always did...

Halftime,

So we all have been waiting for an actual game and we have one... Well I'm sure a group of kids at the YMCA could give Whisky a run for their money if not beat them but it is a measuring stick for us as fans. Marquette is shooting cold from 3, what are we 1 for 11.. Alotta jitters in the first half...

- Who is this Juan?? He is playing good 17 1st half points... Nicccce, but will that cross over to real games against real teams.. The betters say no...

- Matt Carlino looks good with the ball in his hands can get in the lane and score.

- Derrick is Derrick....

- JJJ is playing good 6 points no fouls and not too many bad plays....

- Sandy is gonna be a pretty good player (has to get stronger for the 2 Millionth time mentioned)...

-Duane had a couple of baffling turnovers like the pass to nobody and that showtime backpass to Deonte for the missed dunk should have just laid it up..

- Steve Taylor should have 25 points by now I think I watched him miss 3 point blank layups on one possession lets just hope its 1st game jitters...

-John Dawson has been playing good defense on the ball, had been getting some pretty lame foul calls (3 in the first half) but hey its an exhibition...

Overall we have a lot of work to do and the press has created 14 turnovers so far.......
We should be up 75-6 but I'll take 45-14 for now.....

Cohen and Juan with back to back 3's.   Both off of good passes, both took their time and did not rush it.
