all big schools are having a tough time getting started ~
Although the victory wasn't pretty, O'Neill wasn't complaining.
"I am from the school where a win is a win," he said. "It beats the alternative. [But] they physically dominated our inside players in the second half."

And UNC beat Davidson by 4.
Curry is one AMAZING player. I'd pay to watch him play!
Also,
LSU beat McNeese State by four.
North Texas beat OSU by 9!!!
Sam Houston State beat TTech by 2!!!
UTEP is beating #15 Texas AM by 4.
I think Davidson has a chance to be this year's George Mason. Not final-four level, but maybe the second weekend?

Great decision by Seth Greenberg not to offer him a scholarship, eh?

and georgetown crushes michigan... a tad more respectable than davidson, northern wherever, or a school with a jillion vowels in it.
good teams win, and win decisively vs. lesser talent.
period.
WASHINGTON - Georgetown overwhelmed Michigan right from the start.
With typically tough defense and a balanced offense paced by 12 points apiece from Roy Hibbert and Jessie Sapp, the No. 5 Hoyas raced out to a big lead and were never challenged in a 74-52 victory over the Wolverines on Thursday night.
Everyone got into the act early for Georgetown (2-0), which scored the game's first 12 points and, more remarkably, grabbed the game's first 11 rebounds.
they join us at 2-0
"good teams win, and win decisively vs. lesser talent.
period."
Not True.
Plenty of historical examples of good teams losing to less talented teams and still having great seasons.
Off the top of my head, UNC 3 years ago lost to UC-Santa Barbara, I believe, and still won a national championship. Our final four team lost to East Carolina.
Davidson will have a better season and is without a doubt a better team than michigan this year.
"good teams win, and win decisively vs. lesser talent.
period."
So untrue and the landscape is littered with examples every year. How can you even say this? These are teams of 18-22 year old kids, they can have an off night or two, doesn't make them any less good or great.
Kansas...lost to Oral Roberts last year
Georgetown...lost to Old Dominion last year
Michigan State losing to Hawaii
Wisconsin losing to Pepperdine
Wisconsin losing to N. Dakota State
Etc....There have to be 50 examples a year of good teams losing to teams they shouldn't.
dude.
4 of your 5 examples have at least been decent mid major d1 teams.
UW crushes Savannah St.
that's what I am talking about.
and that's what should happen.
sure, a stumble against a decent team/one with SOME history like a Pepperdine or Creighton or whomever is not out of the ordinary.
but Northern Ill, Northern Ariz, Northern Michigan???
you schedule these for big wins.
yeah, I'm glad MU got some kind of a test- we bitch enough about soft preseason schedules.
but when you have them, you hurt them.
geez.
Well if you sign to play for mild mannered Lute and end up with arrogant O'Neil-----I can see why U of A didn't meet expectations!

Wait a minute...you were the one that said Good teams win, and win decisively vs. lesser talent. period" Well, how can be the case with the examples I gave you...all of those good teams had clearly better talent and not only didn't win decisively, they didn't even win.
The point is - just win baby.
If we win by 50, crean is guilty of scheduling cupcakes and wasting time
If we win by 10, we are horrible and crean cant recruit 6'9" talent.

c'mon.... do you truly think I or anyone else thinks ANY one team considered better is going to win each and every night?
read the former threads.
your examples indicate historically decent teams for the most part.
not the flippin cupcakes you know are being referred to.
no way should a number 10 in the country team lose at home to a 300rpi team they bring in for a spanking.
Tennessee, which is ranked 7th, only beat Prairie View A&M by 14. Following that logic, surely the 11th ranked team is allowed to only beat Utah Valley State by 11?
